Story 4: First impressions are everything. It applies just not to the interviewee, but the interviewer too. The fact that the manager straight up went into a hyper-aggressive rant over a *PARKING SPOT* while OP didn't do anything wrong is foul. He basically told OP "I have anger issues and will make you miserable while assuming" without telling them that. G-Tier first impression, Manager.

Story 3: Recovery, according to some research, can go from a few days to several months depending on multiple factors, including what the surgery was. Very true, for instance, I got a cochlear surgery (for those who don't know, it essentially helps restore a fully deaf ear via an implant that connects magnetically to a device that rests on my ear) last year, and I'm still recovering, because for surgeries like that, it doesn't stop at the surgery wound... I have to heal, roughly 8 or 9 years of my ear being deaf and useless, thankfully, tho, it's Bluetooth and I can do sound therapy at my own pace ^^

Laptop charger guy gave me flashbacks to working at Duncan Donuts. We would sometimes get people *****ing us out for our coffee being too hot. Not because they spilled on themselves or anything, they would just be fishing for compensation like free coupons, gift cards or at least a free coffee. I would, in customer service talk tell them that unless they were given a faulty lid and were injured that we weren't liable for anything because the cups all had a very clear "Caution:Hot Beverage" label, ESPECIALLY in cases where the customer removed the lid themselves. Most would grumpily leave it at that and file a complaint but some would actually try to threaten lawsuit and try to claim it was illegal to serve coffee this hot. To which I would have to explain (on deaf ears) the food safety regulation for coffee temperature. It's just kind of funny when people think willful ignorance is a good excuse to avoid personal responsibility.

About that last story- I'm a below-knee amputee. One day, I pulled into a handicapped spot in a parking lot, put up my placard and got out of my vehicle. A typical Karen comes up to me and demands that I move because "you don't need that spot. I bet that you stole that placard!" I explained that I'm disabled and own the placard. She demands to see my paperwork; I refused. She yelled, "Prove it, you lazy, fake bastard!" Then she proceeds to shove me down and try to get in my vehicle. By this time, people were looking and asking her WTF. She screamed at them to mind their own business. I proceeded to push the button on my socket through my jeans while trying to stand up. My leg popped out of my jeans and hit her in the leg while I screamed blue murder, as if I was in pain. She looked down, saw my prosthetic and screamed herself. She ran off while some people chased her and others helped me reattach my leg and helped me stand up. I thanked them and went to run my errand. I understand that she was arrested for assault on a disabled person. Rather than deal with the whole mess, I snuck away and drove home. Achievement Unlocked: Malicious Compliance!

The fine story: I finished my degree and decided not to attend convocation. The university did not send me my diploma because I had $2.70 in unpaid library fines. I ignored them because I had a transcript of my marks, which was sufficient for every job I applied for (I disputed the fine on the grounds I had dropped the books off at the reception desk on the due date). _Thirty years later_ , I decided to take some evening courses at another university, but they required a copy of my diploma, so I had to contact my original university. They decided to waive the fine and sent me my diploma, but I had to wonder about them keeping a record of an $2.70 fine for 30 years.

Mary's threats in the first story are massively stupid on her part. First, why OP would get a referral from her to begin with? Also the whole threat of getting OP fired from his new job and blacklisted from working on his position anywhere in the town was massively hollow; First, she had no power to get him fired, and even if she did then what? She would give OP a slam-dunk case for a lawsuit against her for retaliation, and get herself blacklisted, not OP (because I doubt any minimally decent company would hire someone who lost a lawsuit for retaliation against a former employee/subordinate)
