WinCompose (or a compose key on Linux) is how I "easily" type characters like in José or Ştefania. Most of the combinations are pretty intuitive, but you can pretty easily get all of the common easy ones like the umlaut in ü or ö or ÁÆØÅ etc without needing to resort to the special character/emoji insert menu (WIN + ;)

Story 4: I'm judging OP. I'm judging hard. OP told ppl they can call her by her English name. José asked to be address by his non English name. It took me less than 10sec to find that e in the character map on windows, it's even faster on mac as you just hold down the e key and special characters pop up. She didn't maliciously comply, she was petty and created a hostile work environment. Also, the bit about copying and pasting his name from wikipeda is just pure childishness. If she couldn't be arsed to look up how to do the é, she just had to copy and paste his name from the team chat that she said he has name spelled the way he wished to be addressed. Ștefania seems like a bit of a dick. She decided that b/c she doesn't care about the special character in her name, no one should. That's not how it works. I wonder what else she decides isn't important b/c she doesn't think it's important..... Edit: Watched the end of the video, and you don't get to decide that either Rob. Address people how they ask you to address them. It's called respecting other people's wishes. A name is such a personal thing, and addressing ppl how they want to be address, in speaking and in writing, is important.

The only reason to pester people to add an accent when typing is to be a pedantic dick. Especially for names. It doesn't change how people read it, it doesn't make it so people misunderstand what's being said. It's the same as going off on someone for making a typo. The point of text communication is to communicate. If there's some sort of legitimate misunderstanding being caused by it, or the meaning of a word changes or something, then sure, it matters, but this is just petty BS
@Tyanna01
Жыл бұрын
@@monty58 I doesn't matter how you feel. Call people how they have asked to be addressed. In this global, and pandemic world, we communicate more by text than speaking. Thus, is someone tells you how to spell their name, and you continually spell it wrong (and not using the right accent *is* spelling it wrong) that is a sign of disrespect. Just b/c *YOU* don't care doesn't mean others don't. It annoys me to NO END when people spell my name wrong. Choose a different spelling of it. Drop letters. It shows they don't care. I've given up on ppl saying my name properly years ago...but the spelling of my name is RIGHT THERE!!! In the chat program you're typing to me to, in the email name you're sending me....copy and paste it if you're too lazy to write out all the letter ffs. I don't even have any special characters in my name and ppl spell it wrong. So maybe...you're being a dick to ppl and you don't even realize it. Normally, people don't choose that hill to die on and just stop correcting, like me with my name. But oh god I hard judge the person and don't like them for it. Call people the way they want to be address, in text or in speech. You don't get to decide if something is important or not. Show other people that you respect them enough to spell their name right. It is such a low bar my dude. Also, it sounds to me like Ștefania was the only one who wasn't writing José name right too. She was a dick. It should have been brought up with her manager. She should have been talked to about it b/c she was created a hostile work environment by deciding something wasn't important. She then decided to be petty when she was forced to accept it was important to José.

The tax story reminds me of a line from the last page of Canadian tax returns that is similar to "if there is a balance owing or refund of less than two dollars, don't send us money and we won't send you money." The penny guy obviously was being rude to OP, even though it wasn't OP's fault so I'm not excusing his behavior but I have to say I completely agree with him. It IS just plain stupid that they would tack on a single day or two late fees when it came through the mail. The stamp is more than the fee not to mention if they pay with check or card then there is a fee they have to pay to the bank/CC processors jjust to accept the payment

I used to work for a government body in Australia. They had their billing set up so that anything which was paid by mail had a two-day "grace period" to cover likely mail delays. All the same, I remember one telephone call from one dumb bunny who had: 1. Failed to submit a legally required form on time despite one being sent to him for completion well before time. 2. Ignored the notification that it was late and; 3. Ignored the warning that a penalty for non-submission would soon become payable, until two weeks after the deadline given in the warning (the issuing of the penalty amount was always delayed for two weeks after the deadline just to be nice). He'd received the penalty notice and was calling up to complain. He was quite p-ed off that we'd received his form and payment the day before the evening on which the penalty notice had been printed but it had only been entered into the computer the following day, leading to the penalty going out. So, in summary, he dicked around for months before obeying the law but was upset that the department hadn't processed his payment and form the very instant they arrived in the office. I kindly suggested that he put a reminder in his diary for next year, when the yearly compliance form would be again due. 😆🤣😂😁😇😋

Story 3 - The reason they count postmarks and date of receipt is because in the US some jurisdictions allow your postal votes have to be posted on the day of the election so as long as it's post marked for the election day then your vote may be counted. In California, Los Angeles County, Orange County and Sonoma County all use the post mark as the cut off. The title insurance company I worked for would make sure all past taxes were paid during escrow, so the new property owners were only responsible for when they actually owned the property. I have two major questions about the first story: 1) How on Earth did you get your insurance to actually pay you money that you're owed?! You can have all the facts and evidence on your side, and it's still like pulling teeth to even get half of your car's worth. 2) Go with somebody else? Dude's got the one insurance policy that actually pays out, I'd say keep 'em. In a world of Allstates, and Statefarms, Libertymutuals, Nationwides, Metlives, Farmers... I could go on and on... wait; I should put the worst, last: and State Farm, the only 'neighbors' worse than having George H.W. Bush Sr. living across the street. ... oh, not only was that a run-on sentence, I never finished my thought. Existing in a world with all that crap, Few_Oil_7196's policy is good enough.

I thought I would tell my story of a stupid company decision. Milliman decided that I was no longer entitled to a parking spot downtown (I used to see clients). This meant I had to take the bus and I was told if my husband was in the hospital due to his medical issues I would take a taxi since buses do not run all day long. Buses do not run at night either so instead of working til 7 PM or later every night to avoid traffic and get my work done I had to leave at the normal time. I did not get paid overtime of course. So they lost a ton of my working hours. I did explain this but the office manager was adamant and I decided not to bring it up with management. This reminds me of Mercer who transferred me and cut my pay by 1/3, what they didn't realize was that I cut my hours from 20 to 8 and got my health back (chronic bronchitis for years). They had to distribute my work to 3 other people. Since I also worked weekends and holidays previously I got a nice salary increase. Managers are really dumb because they never ask questions. There is more to the story of course but it is long.
