That cigar story, I think it's very likely that the customer actually didn't know the other guy, and was just buying cigarettes for him. It's pretty common for teens to hang out around gas stations and ask people to go in and buy stuff for them, handing them cash to do so. Likewise, that's probably why they had that policy in the first place

You should do some research. Knuckles are literally joints in your fingers and yes, you can get arthritis in them. Arthritis is swelling and disfigurement in your joints that causes pain and limits movement while causing deformities and wears down the joints. Arthritis is caused by injuries as well various medical conditions effecting the bones and joints. I was born with a skeletal condition that causes deformity in my bones which later caused arthritis in my hips, spine, ankles, hands, wrists, etc.

Ignore this- I’m playing FNaF vr on my switch a beef this for a level 1. Take the small gear on the left and place it into the gear slot to run the conveyer belt. This will bring a medium-sized gear towards you. 2. Grab the medium-sized gear and place it in the gear slot in the middle elevator window to open a part of the gate. 3. Take the small gear and place in a gear slot in the middle elevator window as well to open the other half of the gate. 4. Grab the medium-sized gear and place it higher up to run another conveyer belt. This will give you a big gear. 5. Once the big gear has fallen off the conveyer belt, put the medium sized gear where it was before. This will give you access to the big gear. 6. Grab the big gear and place it in the correct place in the right elevator window. After this, grab the small gear next, and then the medium sized gear. These both also must fit into a slot in the right elevator window. Then you're done!

I (25f) am a cake decorator at a grocery store. The first store I worked at would only give me 3 days to work on cakes and my other 2 days were on chicken. I hated it because I wasn't able to keep up on the cake demand with just 3 days. I would get bitched at from the manager and the store supervisor for having 1 empty spot in the cake case. So I started staying late on my cake days just to get a bit more done and I'd manage to make 70+ items every shift. I averaged 45hrs a week on part time pay. Holiday weeks I'd get 50+hours because of all the extra stuff I had to make. I hated my life as I was always stressed out and being put down by my manager. The last straw was 4th of July 2 years ago. I made about 400 cakes for the holiday display and managed to get my normal cake case to 100%. But It still wasn't good enough as both the manager and supervisor came over to me to berate me for not working hard enough. I turned in my 2 weeks the next day and got a new job at another grocery store a week after the 2 weeks were up. Best part though is that when I worked there, the store was consistently #1 in the region for cake sales but they don't even make top 10 since I left. Now at my new store I work 35hrs a week with better pay and I am fighting another store for #1 spot. Usually it's my store but every now and then the other store will steal my spot until I get it back. I love my job now and every month when I get the region top 10 list for my department, I smile knowing my old store will probably never be #1 again.

I’ve had something similar to the cigars guy story. Years ago I was in a big 24h Tesco buying beer, ignoring everyone in the queue like the good Brit that I am. I get to the cashier, he IDs me. Fine, happens all the time. Then IDs they guy behind me, he doesn’t have any (from what I remember he wasn’t buying anything that needed it), tells me he can’t sell me my things cos I’m clearly with the guy. Fortunately a supervisor saw what was happening and just told the guy to serve me. Utterly bizarre.

So, for example, “hey so and so, so to recap today’s meeting and to clarify all requests, you want me to do this list of things to achieve this outcome?” Or whatever. And request read receipts and responses. This protects you from people who are constantly changing their minds and blaming you for not doing what was never asked. Most people will know what is going on when they see this email, but by then it’s too late. The email trail has been blazed. I also love cracking my knuckle, and my mother also hates it so much and saying it will give me arthritis. So I asked my mom what is arthritis? She said she didn't know and just citing it from some article on the internet .

From Fresh, I have learned that if I’m gonna lie about someone, don’t @ them. From Rslash, I have learned never to mess with the IT guy. I have gained true wisdom

"Never mess with the IT guys" is so true... I had a good relationship with the IT guy at my first job at a travel agency. I was in the reservations department and mistakes on reservations could be done very easily, this was 24 years ago, so not many people knew how computers and programs worked. I was called by my boss one afternoon and was told I had made a mistake in a reservation and that the cost of fixing it for our clients was around 350 USD, like three months salary. I was pregnant, just about to take maternity leave which would reduce my salary way too much and I would have to work for free for many months. I was sure I hadn't made any mistake. I remembered I had written lots of notes on that reservation with the authorization of the operations manager and the deadlines she had given but suddenly there were no notes. I spoke to the IT guy and asked him to please check what had happened with that reservation. It took a little convincing but he did. A couple hours later, he came to my station with a bunch of prints with the history of my reservation. It showed who opened it, when, what time and most importantly, all the changes that had been made. I was able to prove it wasn't my fault or my mistake. It was from the operations manager assistant. She decided she could make decisions without the manager's authorization. She was charged the 350 dollars, she was demoted and was fired as soon as she paid for that mistake. Done people called me AH for calling her out, but I don't think it was fair for me when I was about to have my daughter, so yeah, it was good I didn't need with the IT guy :)

the most annoying thing ever is when customers press buttons without reading or listening to what I'm saying, and then I'm forced to waste both of our time and to repeat what I was saying and redo that step of the transaction. I hate it.

R/maliciouscompliance, where every workplace is both petty and toxic and there is a wholesome story somewhere in there, you just need to find Atlantis first before you even get enough experience to find it.

RE: the maintenance mechanic. At the end of my 30-year active duty career I was managing 40,000 man hours per year with a zero failure rate. One lesson I had learned along the way was this: Try to avoid interfering with the person who is getting the job done!

I have since moved out of state, but I worked for a really shady finance company for about 7 months. Worst 7 months of my life. The more I worked there, the more miserable I became. I read reviews online about this place (FINALLY), and waited it out until I got another job, quit, and never looked back. Throughout my time there, I had told my husband that this place will close, get sued, get totally wrecked by the Better Business Bureau, etc. It may have taken a few years, but it finally shut down, and I would drive by and laugh and laugh and laugh. I knew it!
