Something about a manager fraud investigation! I instantly started dying on the spot. $500,000 worth of gear gets it for 6000 STONKS!

If someone offered me a trip to Rome, I would only hesitate because I would feel guilty about them spending that much money on me.

Franking machine story: So OP, were you or anyone else sent out to pick up a few rolls of scotch tape to seal the envelopes with? Because with 200+ letters, you must have burned thru a lot of pre-paid postage. Meal deal story: Rob, I've never been to Rome but when I was in the US Navy I did see Naples, Italy several times, as well as a few other smaller Italian cities. Beautiful country and reasonably friendly people and good food. Plus a great deal of history. Server story: Wow, did that company ever screw up. $500,000+ worth of equipment for just $6,000. I can't imagine why there was an ongoing fraud investigation. LMAO🤣 But it does make me wonder what will happen if they ever figure it out. Bike story: So he doesn't want his tires to get dirty? What does he thing is going to happen whenever he rides it?

I heard yhe wrong Server Order Story recently, but I like this video's version. I think they cut out part of the story (or at least I missed it when I listened to it twice); specifically, the part where the OP explained what he got (but did keep that he wouldn't be able to afford what they actually sent him). So thank you for clarifying that for me. Great story, arrogant Manager should have listened and looked into what OP was telling him. Dumba**

Story 1: Would you rather talk to the boss or the one who actually knows what's going on around here? Story 2: Sounds nice... at least it seems to have ended well for OP Story 3: YIKES... $500K worth of things for $6k... I would have parted it out... not worth the hassle otherwise! Story 4: Just strange... whatever. Thanks to all 4 OPs and KCC for this episode.

Story 3: OP may not have been the only customer who experienced this. Which means millions of dollars in products could have been sold incorrectly.

In the UK the practice of applying postage is called franking. It dates back to the days when noblemen were permitted free postage simply by affixing their signature or seal to the letter. It comes from the French word for free, I believe, rather than some guy named Frank. Finally my study of history has a practical use.

The U.S. Congress still has a franking privilege. Wild history of abuse and shenanigans.

As for why the bike stayed in the rack as long as it did it sounds like the employee was allowed to keep it at work because he lived in an apartment and it was stored there over the fall and winter. Since OP left in the fall and it was still there it sounds like it just stayed up there for the winter and in the spring the employee would have to get another employee to get the bike down so he can ride it again. At least that's my takeaway.

Yeh back in the day I worked for a UK computer company and they were one of our bigger clients, unsurprising since their machines were in pretty much every company you visited. I don't know if they actually had any competitors.

The server equipment story I would definitely try to sell it I were trying to sell a whole as is that way I wouldn't have to worry about parts or warranty. If that failed then I would try to part it out and try and sell it cuz as one of those comments said even at a discount that is still quite a bit of money.
