Story 1 feels like something is missing, ArmyLiar does a complete 180 from best friend/brother to total betrayal for no reason? He also calls the roommate who ended up stealing a longtime friend. Roomate and ArmyLiar both solid friends of OP, suddenly decide to steal all of his stuff for zero reason? ArmyLiar suddenly has loyalty to roomate despite not being friend with him prior to OP? The motives here don't make any sense.

As for the car being towed in the second story, the homeowner doesn't own the street. If you park your car on the street, and the city makes it temporarily a no-parking zone, then they can legally tow your car.

It was the south in the 1970s-80s. You could buy those at like... every road side flag store. The only reason you can't do that now is because people don't want to end up on the internet for selling them.

Not sure how it works in Georgia, but here if a production company gets permits from the city to film on streets the city will temporarily turn those streets into no parking zones and issue notices that anyone parked there needs to move their cars or get towed. It's the same as if there was a parade or other city-sanctioned event happening on those streets, or if they needed to be clear for street sweeping or something. So it was probably entirely legal that his car got towed.
@wmdkitty

Okay wow, story 1's writer sounds very mentally unstable. I've been down and out, but to contemplate not only your own death but just wiping out your entire family? That's needing serious mental help. I also already believe parts of the story are fluffed to make them more of a victim of those particular situations than they already were. Partly because I've heard so many stories like this in person, and have known both sides of the fence personally. I had roomates that were also very anti-conservative activist (not utilizing that in a sense to say people like that are liars or crazy, but just to point out it doesn't matter what party you align with. A shit person is a shit person.) and the girlfriend was ALWAYS the victim, had to be right, had to be heard and overtalked everyone, and always ALWAYS made herself out to be either a victim or a bad ass. I've watched her single handedly start every negative situation she's been in from debt to arguments to fights and more. SHE initiated and instigated EVERY encounter she had while she was my roomate (not with me ), and her boyfriend was just along for the ride, he later had enough and stood up for himself, finally. Later on, she ended up leaving town in the blink of an eye and 2 or 3 days later people were knocking on my door in search of her. Debt collectors and more. Now, the "army liar", I do believe most of it, but why did the other people drop them so easily from any form of trust? Groups of people don't just ALL believe one person if YOU have a good track record. IF so, dear god you're around a colony of shit people and need to get out. That's just bad decision making. Also, do not take that ending advice. Burn the bridges that need burning (I definitely have and boy were those fires inexstinguishable), not the ones that can be salvaged (Truly salvaged, not you wanting to keep that person in your life for various reasons when they TRULY deserve the cold shoulder. But don't be stupid, pay attention to ALL red flags. But do not treat eveyrone with a blanket mindset of not forgiving anyone. That's just bad for your own well being. We all know those people who say "im not negative, I'm just a realist" while noticing every connection they try to make outside of you who they take foregranted diminishes within months if not weeks and them constantly being in a state of avoidable depression.

Story 1 has a lot of holes. There's a bit more information in the comment section on Reddit but it's still really weird. All I see is roomate (his longtime friend) steals all OPs stuff, leave's a note claiming ArmyLiar "helped" (why leave this note?). OP decides to take no action against roommate who stole all his stuff and instead ruin the career of ArmyLiar who may or may not of even been there. From OPs comments in Reddit, it does seem to be mostly politically motivated. ArmyLiar was bisexual (with roomate) but being in military posed as conservative, anti-LGBT so ArmyLiar wanted to distance himself from LGBT, liberal friends. And OP (probably very liberal) took revenge out on him, by reporting him as LGBT/recreational drug user.
