Could have also known/suspected the locker theft was not the locker owners' fault but saw this as a way to cash in on the student's misfortune by allowing the thefts to occur then charging said students to change the locker combo. I am seriously curious if the principle for some reason was able to make a profit off this (either through getting a cut of the price to replace the locks or via bonuses for generating "revenue"). Either way, the principle was either a greedy idiot that thought he couldn't be caught/punished or he was a regular idiot that actually thought this was the students' fault, in either case he clearly wasn't smart enough to run a school as principle.

Just a heads up for my favorite Reddit voice: the way how “class” is phrased here in the second story indicates he’s talking about the legal class action (wherein those seeking relief are referred to collectively as the “class”), not his own individual school classroom, thus no need for the x4 multiplier. Second story: I think the reason the school first fought back the warranty for the CCTV recordings, and them the director got mad about Dave and his mother being arrested, is that they probably didn't wanted to stop whoever was committing that spree of thefts so they could keep cashing on changing locker combinations; For me $150 to change a combination is also pretty overpriced, back in my old school we didn't had combination but keys on our lockers, but still a replacement wasn't as near as $150 bucks, not even R$150 (I'm from Brazil); Instead those idiots got a student and a employee charged with years in prison, and I feel the school paid even more than RSlash calculated, because they probably paid a even bigger extra in attorney's fees besides the one already taken from the $85 everyone got after they got taken from each restitution.

Locker story reminds me of my high school. When I was in 9th grade, they started issuing school locks to everyone. Had a key hole on the back so the school could go into your locker whenever they wanted to "search for contraband" Fine, whatever, I was a boring kid who never brought weapons or drugs to school. But, some classmates worked in the office, stole the master key from the desk and made copies. My stuff kept getting stolen and they were vandalizing what they didn't take. So, I got my own lock, gave the principal the combination and I used that until the day I graduated.

They wouldn't have been able to give her such harsh charges if she hadn't voluntarily gave this info to her son, especially since she was in charge of so many children's private information there. They were offered less time by the prosecutor. The mom & son chose to take it to trial despite the undeniable proof of the crimes which caused them to get even more time. He would have had 5 years juvy + 5 prison, which insinuates he was 13 at the time, that does still feel like a lot imo instead of the 9 years he got. The mother would have gotten 15 but ended up with 18 because the evidence was irrefutable by that point. I don’t mind the repeat stories. Especially when it’s pro-Revenge. Hearing how these dumb wads get royally effed over is always satisfying and brightens my day Also when I was in high school, when we were given combination locks, they were newly given (like not even taken out of their casings new) and I fiddled with my lock so it it wouldn’t open the traditional way. Like I’d turn it several times before stopping at the first number then finished the combination the regular way. Never gave out my combo

First story is exactly why you need a vestry (basically a board of lay people) and treasurer in charge of a church’s finances. I’ve served on my church’s vestry and we would definitely notice if something sketchy was going on. We actually had to replace our own roof a couple of years ago, so I’ve gotten entirely too familiar with the bidding and pricing process for that, lol.

I kinda feel conflicted about the last Story. I mean, I get that what the kid did Was serious, but the charges seem kinda extreme. 18 years for the mom is also kinda crazy, given the time you serve for other offences which have the perpetrator portray I much more serious threat to society.

Yeah I agree. While the kid does deserve harsh punishment, putting a minor in jail for that long is insane. The story also doesn’t mention at all if the mother provided the login info or the kid simply stole it so there isn’t enough info to say if she’s even responsible. Tbh the fact they weren’t given any plea deals makes me think it’s possible the charges were racially motivated, which is impossible to know of course.
@spookyteal

@@josephfowler261 They must have had enough evidence that the mom gave her son the info to login to her school's system--why else would her son know that at all anyways. The mother would have gotten 15 but they ended up with 9 & 18 because the evidence was irrefutable by that point. Gives me the impression that she was in on the situation, likely was happy with the amount of jewelry & money she was looking at getting.

@@spookyteal If that is true then I agree with the mothers sentencing. Problem is the story doesn't really give any proof of that and its not beyond a reasonable doubt that the child didn't just steal the login information based on the story alone. It's obvious from the story that the prosecutors were trying to be as punitive as possible, especially since there weren't any plea deals given to either of them. Stealing that much as a child is certainly a sign of disordered behavior, and while it does not excuse the behavior, sending a child to jail for 9 years isn't going to help anything. Not to mention, there is no way that many charges would've been accumulated if the principal had nipped the theft issue in the bud to begin with. Not saying the kid is a victim, just saying that throwing a kid in jail for 9 years is going to make more harm than good.

Story 2: I bet the principal was part of this and if he was he should have been charged with criminal negligence. you don't just ignore crime spree going on in the school. The thieves got what they deserve too especially the mom who the hell steals from High school students. Also $150 to change you locker combination thats highway robbery!!

Fun story about graphing calculators in 2003.. I found a graphing calculator at my school and kept it. It had a game on it, a game the previous owner had designed. This game is, to this day, one of the best games I've ever played. It was called Pimp Wars Our school taught us how to design games on our calculators, but they were mostly Pong, Snake, and Frogger clones. But Pimp Wars was special. It was silly and raunchy and more complex than any other game that anyone I knew had programmed

As for this post, I would have liked to hear that the guy did something to his girlfriend who cheated on him as well as what he did to pastor Bob. Anyone, man or woman that cheats on their significant other deserves to be buried in my opinion. And I’ve never even been cheated on, but I still think it is one of the lowest things a person can do to another person.
