In fairness vaginal PH is a legit concern. However just rinsing off with plain water after your bubble bath is enough to deal with it you don't need to use a tampon every time you take a bath. In fact overusing tampons is more likely to lead to bacterial vaginosis or yeast infection than just taking a bubble bath

I was free to pump and take them the containers, they'd keep it in their fridge and heat it up for little one. Pumping is a bitch but their logic was quite reasonable. As 5 very dement grandmas prove every other shift of mine and if they are particularly motivated we don't really have another option but to put the strap under the pit instead of the shoulder for the transfer. (We cant restrain anyone legally but if grandma Jean is wanting to walk out the back of the ambulance in the middle of the Highway we have to do sth. It works but a motivated toddler can learn to escap that it's also not exactly the safest option. The belt works way better if you put it over your shoulder. Kissing a kid on the mouth is Flat-Out _Creepy._ I grew up in an Italian-American family in the 1970s, and only ever kissed/was kissed by my female relatives _on the cheek only._ Still do, though I'm going to think more carefully about that with any non-adult cousins [of which there are rather few for me, being oooollllld].

My sister was firm on the no-kissing thing with her kid born June 2020. But, the thing is, the family was a lot more considerate than this crazy mom's family. What if the people she sprayed drops the kid, out of a reflex of being sprayed, or straight up uses the kid for a shield? Mom isn't too smart herself. The simplest solution is to not allow these people around the kid, either denying them entry in her home or not going to family gatherings. If they ask why, let them know why!

The thing is, as long as the child can't vocalize their preferance the parents are the ones that set the boundries and the extended family is blatantly disregarding these. It doesn't really matter where they are kissing the child. Also what are they going to do when the child sets the exect same boundaries if they already disregard the parents, most people would be offended, if a child dares to deny such things and force them onto the child. The sooner the family learns it is worng to disregard boundaries, that are set about and later on hopefully by the child the better.

Got to disagree with you on the spray bottle story, with a cavate: There are illnesses that can be passed on to a baby via kissing them especially during the first 6 months when baby cant be vaxed against some of them (whooping couch and C-19 are prime examples). If mom has told on numerous times family to not kiss her child then she is getting her point across in a non harmful way. Though honestly mom should also not allow said family members to interact with child until family members follow direction. Heads up if a mom says not to touch her child then you don't touch the child, consent matters.

Gonna say, with the mom who says very vaguely that she found "drugs" in her daughter's room, and that the dad "wouldn't be reasonable," I'm wondering if it was a prescription. Maybe even mental health related. That would make sense why she KNOWS the husband won't listen to her. I only have this theory because it's exactly what would have happened when *I* was a teen. My stepmom HATED medication of any kind, insisted they were the same as "street drugs," and actually took me off of several prescribed medications against doctor's orders, but my dad never really seemed to have her back on it. He didn't fight her too much over it, but he would have been "unreasonable" by her perspective. That makes the cop response even more ridiculous. Whatever it is definitely doesn't harm her ability to function in school, chances are she needs/takes it in order to function in the first place! And she takes it away from her, that's sad to think about. Also dangerous: cold turkey can be very damaging and have permanent effects on physical and mental health with illegal and medical drugs alike! The pH balance thing actually does matter when it comes to the lower parts (being careful with wording so this doesn't get deleted). It leads to infection if messed up. However, taking a bath will not affect it if you're not using stuff like bath bombs (which you shouldn't be using on a baby anyway). The thing that will affect it is putting soap directly inside the opening. That's the point where it is an internal organ and can clean itself. You can wash the lips, just not the hole. Edited to add: As people in the replies pointed out, if you're washing there or around there with anything but water, make sure it is safe to put there. Gentle non-perfumed soaps/products made for that purpose. Don't try to wash the inside at all.

I don't think you understood the PH thing in the first post...when it comes to people with vaginas, vaginal PH is very important. The mom is concerned about the PH balance of her baby's vagina being disrupted by the soap in the water, causing a disruption of vaginal flora, which can lead to infections. BUT, this isn't something to be concerned about with baby's, and even adult women don't need to bath or shower with tampons in to preserve their PH. That's just silly.

As for the post about the spray bottle; yeah, I totally agree with her. In particular, there's this dumb trend among people to kiss other people's babies *on the lips* to 'promote' their health some shit like that. There have been several cases of NICU patients whose stay in NICU was unnecessarily extended due to either the parent or someone close to the parent kissing the child on the lips after birth. The concern over people kissing their baby too much is real and valid, and I think that resorting to the spray bottle is hilarious if unnecessary, and terrifying if it is necessary.

The problem is that fostering curiosity is actually insanely hard so if you don’t have a kid who is already reading on their own and asking questions on a variety of topics that you’re capable of researching the answer to at a very high level, by the time school enrollment comes around, homeschooling is not, in fact, a viable option for you.

@@John_Weiss Woah - slow down there man. That is a huge, irrational and illegitimate leap. Some wild ultrageneralizing of an extreeemely minor factor. Now these figures are a couple of years old, and only US, but they still provide some rough insights. The odds of a child being raised where one or both parents are not biological parents, _and_ those are in a same-sex couple/household, is like ~0.14%. Or 0.014% for male same-sex households. So in ~99.9% of cases, same-sex relations _isn't even an involved factor _*_at all._* Or 99.99% for male same-sex ones. And even in those ~0.1% to 0.01% of cases there that _is_ a factor, shoehorning in some _mandatory_ phobia or hatred giant fallacy to be an absolutist reason and motivator, makes no sense at all. Remember the context here: This "biological parent = real parent" bullsh1t, those kinds of views and ideals - they are _very_ widespread and common towards the remaining _99.9%, heterosexual_ parents and households. Sexual orientation *obviously* not a significant factor fueling them in general, so assuming that to instead universally be the case, and be universally rooted in homophobia every time same-sex orientation _is_ a factor, is illogical and irrational. But heck, even if for the sake of hypotheticals, we say _ALL_ such expressions were rooted in homophobia whenever there's same-sex parents involved - that still only make up roughly ~ _1 in every 1000 cases._ Thus claiming "anyone saying [this crap] is highly homophobic", is patently absurd. Even giving that claim the "best" possible conditions, sexual orientation being _at all relevant_ is barely a small blip in the statistics. And its general prevalence in society indicate that _even within that small blip,_ *homophobia* is rather unlikely to be a dominant factor. So that "anyone", turn out to be, in a hypothetical "best" possible case scenario, at most a _potential_ 1 in 1000 occurence. Be not so eager and hasty to label hatred and phobic fear onto people with a 5-mile wide stamp. It only serves to cause friction, tension and hammer in wedges of division, where actual grounds for it weren't present before. The one about the peanut allergy. I would take her away from the grandmother and cut the lady out. This reminds me of that reddit story where coconuts and products made from it is not just common but consider really important in their culture. One daughter kept having allergic reactions. After working with their doctor and carefully eliminating things one by one, they realized she is allergic to coconuts. So mom teller her mother she isn't allowed to to use coconut oil in her daughters hair anymore. Grandmother decided she knows best and used it in her hair one evening while the kids were staying over. The daughter was getting tired and feeling ill (she was starting to feel the effects of her allergy,) so she gave the kids Benadryl to knock them out to make them sleep. Poor baby girl died of anaphylaxis in her sleep. Between the swelling and being drugged the girl couldn't even cry for help. Heck the girl was found to have violently vomited in her sleep but due to the medicine couldn't wake up (think like when someone gets pissed drunk or alcohol poisoning and gets sick while remaining unconscious.) Grandma didn't even check on the girls during the night, despite one of them even feeling ill. Then afterwards grandma makes a joke to the mother about how it's just sooo funny that her daughter, who doesn't like coconuts and HATES the oil being used in their hair, wound up having a daughter that was super allergic. Grandma throws a tantrum and gets upset when her daughter, as well as other family members, (very understandably) cuts her out of their lives. Especially after she refused to take responsibly and tried to play off the DEATH OF HER GRANDCHILD.

Also want to just add, you should take people's allergies seriously. They're real and it is NOT your place to refute that. Like when I worked at this one fast food restaurant there was a limited time dish that came with sausage gravy. by cooperate standards we WERE not allowed to substitute for the regular brown gravy. The GM at the time gave me, and everyone else, after I said I substitute anyway, permission to to do it anyway because if they say they are allergic, even if they're lying, we are neither their doctors nor doctors period. It is not for us to disprove it. And that goes across the board.

11:52 - 12:49 Click you just saved my life. I mean that literally. I've been struggling with "un-alive-ing" myself. You and OneTopic are the only ones that bring me even a slice of happiness. I'm a disabled trans person in a conservative state, surrounded by conservative states, losing all hope for the future. I will sign up with a therapist Monday and figure out a path to live my authentic self without fear. I wish I was good at art I would make you something. I'm so tired of this pain. This isolation. This social anxiety. (crying) I will take your advice and ask for help. I have a history of self harm and attempting....worse. I really needed to hear this, thank you. Fellow human, you are going through some serious stuff right now. I'm very grateful you wrote The Click to let him know about your decision to find help. I hope you have moved forward on that. Please knoe that you are here, on this planet at this time, for a reason. You may never find out what that reason is. Whatever is going on in your life, you are important to the world. The world is a better place because you are in it, and it will be better yet once you are feeling better about things. Not all therapists fir all patients, so there's no shame in trying to find a therapist that 'clicks' with you. Not all types of therapies fit all patients, either. 16:23 you can claim “i lost my temper“ for one singular face slap. You do NOT beat somebody up to the point they get welts and bruises as a TEMPER thing. Your hand doesn't slip 20 times in a row. GET HELP. Toddlers don't learn anything from physical abuse, except that you are not a safe person to be around. As for the car seat issue: please just buy a car seat that your child can not wiggle out of. He's too young to understand *why* he needs to stay in the seat, so you need to make it impossible for him for his own safety. Give him interesting toys to engage his mind on the ride, he's probably bored!

I find rather funny that the thing the person in 3:15 finds concerning to show to small children is *not* all the murder, torture, war, violence, cruelty, mutilation, incest, etc. but rather *only* the sex. Look, about the C-section thing around the 7:00 mark. Some people come up with the weirdest shit just to feel superior to others. That's all this is, she desperately needs to be better than her "friend", so much so that she makes up trash like you're not a real mother when you had c-section. That is so absurd and absolutely arbitrary, being a parent is not defined by the way you give birth or if you give birth at all. If you assume the role of a parent and care for a child (or multiple children) you are a parent, end of discussion. Being a parent is not achieved by simply bringing a child into this world.

Adoption and fostering having gatekeeping is a good thing, the countless stories of horrible abuse when it isn’t properly gate kept shows that. The one about the daughter having drugs in her room... Why do I have a feeling it isn't a serious drug and something fairly minor like a vape or something that she probably doesn't know about. What if the daughter was holding it for a friend or just trying it during the last few weeks of high school which can be stressful? Talk to them first. Don't go to the police for a first offense because that will only make them not trust you as a parent. They'll keep more and more from you until they cut you out entirely.

Absolutely. I find these mothers absolutely bizarre. Hey about the one about the spray bottle to stop family members from kissing the kid. It’s about boundaries and I can understand why a mom would do it. Aunt Karen who’s been told multiple times why not to kiss a baby. (Sicknesses, and other reasons) it’s reasonable to do so. Like the person with a trans brother who used an air horn whenever family members dead named him. Well a baby can get very sick from a kiss from someone who doesn’t know they have something like COVID-19 or other deadly diseases for babies. Just a kiss even on just on his cheek could really really harm the baby. I remember a story a few years back when an uncle who had herpes and gave it to his baby niece after giving her a kiss and now she has really really painful flair ups and it almost killed her. I can understand why a mother wouldn’t want to have their relatives kiss their babies. I hope this helps you understand. I’m not trying to be a d*ck ^^ just trying to help people understand
