That is brilliant. I've ridden some of those trails on small enduro bikes and they are pretty tough, big respect to you both on 1200GS's.

I have a 2017 Rallye. I have not ridden it much off road. It's a dream on the highway and around town. Just knowing that it can go off the beaten path (in the hands of a capable rider) inspires me. I took the knobby tires off and sold them. Some regret. Awesome, awesome video ...thanks!

Jim Thompson get yourself on the BMW ORS course in Wales. They use these bikes too. I had not ridden a motorbike in 5 years, but you will be surprised at how easy they are to handle and what you are capable of. I love the rallye because of the course. Course was a gift to me, so yep I was very lucky. Also you will have the off road fun without destroying your own bike...

Cool stuff well done boys! Looking at trading my basic 13 model on a 2018 rallye. Is the suspension any better or is it all in the colour scheme? I think the tank shape looks a bit better on the rallye or maybe thats just across the range as they evolved?

@mholly

Hi Ian, yes we were both in 'Enduro Pro Mode' with traction control disabled. I left the ABS enabled, I think Pete has his disabled. You can notice the difference in throttle response between the modes, especially Rain v's Dynamic but this was my first time off-road on this bike so I don't have enough experience with it to tell you much more.

Love it :-) How did you find all the legal green lanes? I've used the bywaymap.com website to look for some in England, and when I got to them they weren't open to traffic :-( I took my multistrada 1200, put it in enduro mode, but I also had road tyres on, as well as the cast wheels :-/
@mholly
6 жыл бұрын
MojoTheJester Thanks! The easiest way to find lanes is to join the TRF trf.org.uk. You can then follow an experienced ride leader with local knowledge and pickup routes as you go along. Best £45 you can spend on your bike. I’d love to try the Multistrada. ✊️

These were just normal trails, nothing extreme, the ‘Square Peg’ can manage them with ease. The attitude of the rider is the limiting factor most of the time in my experience. Enjoy your riding whatever bike you choose.

Hi Graeme, I started on a DR350 before moving to a KTM 350-f, then a 250-f and now have a 250 EXC. These lanes would be much easier on a trail or enduro bike, but that's the point, it's more of a challenge on the bigger bikes, that's why we do it.

Half of the video makes me wet my pants, but 3:57 is like watching a horror movie. It looks like if your (road) tire slides away or if you accidentally lean on the wrong side when stopping, you‘d fall straight down the slope into the sea. Also, if the path became unrideable, you have zero chance to turn around. Please, please tell me, it’s not as bad as it looks.

I'd only had the bike a couple of weeks at the time of this ride and hadn't had a chance to get new tyres. As it was, the front was a bit sketchy in places but there was a surprising amount of grip. I fitted Michelin Anakee Wilds shortly afterwards which worked really well, with loads of side grip from the front tyre.
