The latest R15 version.. the V4 comes with a totally new body works , USD fork, new rear suspension, Quick Shifter and traction control to name a few.
The engine which it shares with the out going model ( V3) lost a little bit of power but maximum torque kicks in at 1000rpm earlier. We were hoping the V4 to have better pick up and better acceleration.. but, frankly speaking.. it's slower than the V3.
But, it more than make it up in the corners with the new suspensions.. and the new ergonomics with more relaxed riding position hepls to keep fatigue down to acceptable level.
The traction control is a good marketing gimmick but hey.. if you like to brag about electronic gadgets in your bike.. it's well and good. The quick shifter does not work properly on our test bike... missing a few shifts, and we have to resort to shifting manual. It's better than not having it but, since it's there I was expecting a slickier unit from Yamaha.
Overall it's a great looking bike.. giving the rider the impression that we are riding a much bigger bike than a 155cc bike.. this will be a winning factor for a few of us. But, for us the best thing about the R15V4 is the new suspensions.. which transforms the bike to a whole new level of corner curving capabilities..😎🤟
