Impulsive Wandering i think you're not really understanding what he says. No disrespect or anything. But he's arguing against someone's who's idea of someone being one of the greatest being based on album sales and not overall impact. He's trying to explain that its more than that when you're looking at it from a purist point of view. Bizs importance to the culture is unquestionable to those who are intrenched in the actual culture, not to those who are only interested in recent hits. Vlad disagrees.

Jay-Z is better at fitting the mood/beat than Nas. Nas will be on a clubby ass song spitting some biblical philosophy rap, the next song be on a super grimy east coast beat rapping about throwing money and clubbing. Jay was always better at knowing when to go hard and when to stay out of the way and let the song breathe. He's a much better artist than Nas. By the way, Nas is my favorite lyricist (any music genre) ever, but he lacks in his ability to conform to a song's aesthetic.

JustLance 213 word! Vlad stays bringing in other factors. Jay is more famous, has Beyoncé, a prominent businessman, (even though Nas is too) but take away all their accomplishments, fame, status, beats etc and just compare voice, lyrics, flow, & delivery between em? Nas easily. And STILL Nas even with all that extra stuff added back in.
@sinematic06
7 жыл бұрын
Keanu Belle if you simply like Jay more than Nas because you identify with him as an artist more that's fine. You might like his beats more n all, there's nothing wrong with that. The problem with dudes that have arguments like Vlad, is they try to bring all these foreign topics into the discussion of who's better on the mic such as relevance & fame. That's not a good measuring stick right there. It becomes laughable, but if somebody likes Jay more with music related criteria then who can argue with that? More power to em but don't try to play Nas just because he's not as famous as Jay that's silly. And Nas has been putting in work these past few years in partnering and owning different companies so that's a mute point as well truthfully. They're both big in the business world, both legends, but if we even have to compare em, can we stick to just the music and leave all that otha out of it?

Just so you know Vlad. Jamaican artists do way more than what Nas did when he did two songs on one beat. Vybz Kartel has like 4 songs on one instrumental and they’re all dope.

Rakim - Revolutionised the way people rap in general. Nas - High calibre lyrics about any subject whether its some superficial shit or society and world issues. Jay - One of the most distinctive voices, flow and styles. Could never be imitated. Drake - A great hit maker and a good lyricist when he wants to be. The problem is that he never raps on a deeper level which stops him from being in the same conversation. He's never dropped something like "One Love" or "You Must Love Me" that can give you goosebumps.

I think drake is dope when he gets introspective and raps about family issues, other than that he trash to me.

Yeah I mean when i first heard So Far Gone i thought he was sick. Especially 'Say Whats Real'. If you don't think Drake can spit then you're hating BUT if we're going to put a newer artist in with these legends then Kendrick is more deserving of that spot.

Rakim and Nas are the more superior and better out of these 4. Jay and Drake stole lines and were less original. Rakim and Nas never bited lines while maintaining supreme lyrics + classic material. Truth isn't always popular.
