अल्हैय्या बिलावल की यह बंदिश ब्रज की एक गोपिका द्वारा यशोदा से श्रीकृष्ण की शिकायत करने के प्रसंग का वर्णन करता है... लैन गइ सौदा अरि हाटवा... जरा बाजार में सामान लेने क्या गइ... मुए कालिये ने मेरे घर का सारा मख्खन चुरा लिया... ये देख ले तेरे कालिये की करतूत की निशानी... मेरी समझ में इस बंदिश का यही अर्थ है... बाकि का मुझे ज्यादा ज्ञान नहीं है भाई...

It is indeed very similar to Bilahari, as are the names. I would guess the two ragas have a common origin before the formal bifurcation of the Carnatic and Hindustani systems.

माई रे देहो बताई इतही उत मोरा चुरवा गइलवा or also मै घरवा गत माई चुरवा भईलवा माई रे देहो बताई अन्तरा लेने गयी सौदा अरे हाटवा रे इतही गलिन में गईल कबनवा Sthayi Kaban batariya gailo mai Mai ri deho batayi Ithi ut mora churwa gailwa OR main gharwa gat mai, churwa bhailwa Mai re deho batayi Antara lene gayi sauda are haatwa re ithi galin me gayil kabanwa Word Meaning kabanwa - means Kaun or who or stranger Batariya/baat/- relates to path kaban batariya - which path gayil - gone ithi - itne me hi - in this while only ut - that person Churwa gayilva- stole away sauda- transaction lene gayi sauda - went for a buy/sell/shopping haatwa - market galin - lane Mai- here referring to may be a mother or a neighbour or mother in law This composition in Maithili language now popularly known as the bihari language. One female is asking/pleading the other to tell her which way did the stranger go. Just then he stole my belongings or the theft happened While she had gone shopping to the market. Tell me O lady, in this time which lane did he go.
