Listen to Maujudin Khan's thumris, including Gujri Todi. There has never been another singer like him. Music Archives brought out a CD of Maujudin's 18 thumris and cheezas a couple of decades ago. He is immortal. Abdul Karim Khan's greatness shines in 3 or 4 pieces where the pathos of his voice shows through, such as in .... 1.Jhinjhoti 2. Yamani Bilawal 3. Basant .... etc. But his voice in drut tanas failed him and he glossed over the swift notes. By comparison, try and discover Maujudin Khan's CD and see what I am saying here.

It's a mix of different recordings of which the first is definitely Gujari Todi. I recognised it pretty much immediately without reading the title. Then followed by Darbari then some Pilu, then Abhogi then Adana etc. I've not heard it to the end yet.

These are not live recordings. These are from Columbia 78 rpm gramophone disc records of 4-4.5 min. duration. The first piece in GUJRI TODI is followed by a DARBARI KANARA and that by an ABHOGI KANARA . Then comes an ADANA which is followed by some unidentified raga (or it may be a SUGHRAI ) which seems not be Abdul Karim Khan's at all, but his disciple's Sawai Gandharba. I am not sure. The same is true for the last piece in BHAIRABI,
