The violin is arguably the world’s most popular instrument. Its expressive tones suit a variety of musical styles, from fast and furious to slow and sanguine. The violin has remained a democratic instrument, universal and versatile.
Supported by violinist Ragini Shankar (Grand Daughter of Dr. Rajam) and A renowned tabla player Akram Khan.
Raag Kalavati is a rather simple yet very popular and a melodious raag. The charm of raag Kalavati is in its mere modesty and simplicity. It consists of five notes in its ascend and five in its descend, which makes it a pentatonic scale, omitting "Re" and "Ma". It belongs to Khamaj Thaat.
Raag Kalavati is often associated with "Sharad ritu" (Autumn season) because of its dazzling and extremely pleasant nature.
