Hey, good to see you Abbie. Down in a bag is way better than huddling up with cheeky geese. At night they make frequent chitter chatter amongst themselves and they move about so that you'll wake up freezing, a lot. Talk about engaging in a wild goose chase to get comfy. So I have been quite the silly goose and laid the golden egg by getting myself a Marmot Phase 30. Having a bit of gander: 850 fill power, 590 g, comfy rating for guys at 0.6 Celsius and gals at 5.6. My gosh, it's so small you can probably fit it in your pocket, if you got very big pockets.

testing the temperature of a sleeping bag...In Europe there is a standard temperature rating system for sleeping bags, devised in 2002, and updated in 2012, under the title EN 13537. Designed to regulate European sleeping bag manufacturers and provide a coherent rating system for their customers, the EN 13537 standard measures the following four temperature ratings. During the test, the ‘thermal dummy’ is dressed in two-piece clothing with specific thermal insulation, (i.e. a warm base layer top and trousers), and in knee-high socks with a specific thermal insulation: Upper Limit: the highest temperature at which a standard adult man could have a comfortable night’s sleep without sweating excessively. This is measured with zips and hood open, and arms outside of the bag. Comfort: the temperature at which a standard adult woman can expect to sleep comfortably in a relaxed position. This rating is based on a standard woman, as a standard women has a lower tolerance to the cold than a standard man. Comfort Limit: the temperature at which a standard man can sleep for eight hours in a curled position without waking. This rating is the lower threshold for an undisturbed night’s sleep. Extreme: the minimum temperature at which a standard woman can remain for six hours without risk of death from hypothermia. At this temperature sleep will be severely disturbed, and frostbite is possible.

Thanks for a great review of this bag, I was thinking of purchasing one. My decision is made after your comments on the ethical practices RAB uses to obtain their down.

When I saw you hatless at the beginning of the video I thought perhaps, I had somehow passed through a worm hole in the space-time fabric and emerged in another universe. A moment later I was glad to see that hadn’t happened after all. Nice review by the way. I use a Marmot 850 fill down bag that is rated for 15 F on the extreme end. It weighs just over 2 pounds.

Great review...I’m a big Rab fan myself, and have a neutrino bag, and Ridge Raider as well as clothing. It’s great to see Rabs policy on ethics and animal welfare. Thank you Abbie, great review, love your videos, I don’t always comment, but as animal welfare is close to my heart I thought is just drop a line. Well done for pointing it out....it’s important 👍👏👏👏👏👏
