Animal welfare charities are urging families not to buy bunnies as Easter gifts without having done a lot of research beforehand.
Emma Collins, a long time volunteer at Rabbit Residence Rescue in Hertfordshire told Newsround: "We recommend that you don't go out and buy a rabbit straight away."
"They are everywhere at this time of year", she added.
Pets at Home has also paused the sale and adoption of rabbits during Easter, to try to put off anyone buying the animals on the spur of the moment.
Rabbits are a favourite household pet, in fact the third most popular in Britain behind dogs and cats.
But the fluffy animals need a lot of space and care to stay healthy, and can live up to 12 years - so owning one is a long-term decision.
Emma told Newsround: "They need a specialist diet, a good vet and an enclosure they can get into 24 hours a day - a small hutch just isn't enough for them."
