Actually, learning to ride a bike on the grass was fairly common 70 or 80 years ago. The idea was the grass provides a softer place to land when you're first getting started; nearly everyone falls a few times. And once you can balance on grass, the road or sidewalk is even easier. Back in "the old days", this was something called "wisdom"; sadly it seems mostly relegated to the past now.

Yeah I learned to ride without training wheels a little tiny bit older than normal, at 8, and I still did my first few minutes of training in the grass. Probably about 5-10 minutes. Then my sister rolled me around holding the handle bar on the pavement sidewalk behind our school, and we had a medium sized hill behind the school. After a few minutes of dragging me around, her friends talked her into just pushing me down the hill. In that moment I then knew how to ride a bike lol. Dumb girls prob thought I was going to fall. Then they tried to play it off as “that’s the best way to learn.” Yeah, okay, lol. At least it technically worked for me anyway but I wouldn’t say thanks to them.

Slavery would be obsolete due to two factors. One, farming was being automated in the late 1870s. Two, Britain the largest textile manufacturer in the world successfully cultivate cotton in Egypt that was as soft and white as southern cotton at lower cost. The southern cotton plantations would be cost out of business by these post ACW turn of events.

@@MeaganMiller-fy2pf I realize that you're likely kidding, but if not: this is from a movie where the Confederate States of America and chattel slavery still exist in the Southern US in modern times. Meaning the 'gardener' at the end is the family's slave. I figure it goes without saying that keeping a group of people enslaved because of their race is racist. The creators made this ad and this movie specifically to portray racism, you can argue that they didn't succeed, but not that the intent here isn't to create an ad depicting racism.
