Literally all golf courses are surrounded by trees. They block wind and they prevent golf balls from leaving the course, especially if the course is located next to a road.

This is my first time hearing this story. The only house i remember being mention was the the Ebony/Jet publisher John Johnson and his family owning a house there. Glad to see its has a middle class neighborhood.

Silliest thing I've ever heard. People usually welcome a buffer between their property and an adjoining commercial operation.

Not really, there's like over 14 diff golf courses in the desert, NONE of them have these trees, obviously not from around here but properties are worth more w/an open front that's why there's jump 1.75 in value...

If I lived next to a golf course, I would want a thick wall of trees. And if there wasn't one, I would immediately plant fast-growing trees or tall bushes there. As a privacy screen. And to keep out the noise and pollutants from there. And I don't want to watch anyone play golf. Trees are so much better to look at. And they are good for the environment, improve the air, and will likely attract birds. It's ridiculous to the extreme to compare trees to the Berlin wall.

Yep; I used to know a older couple that had a house that bordered a public golf coarse. They would have loved to have a row of trees like this . Golfers used to come up to the edge of their property in the bushes and urinate all the time ! No bathrooms at the 4th hole. It was usually in full view of their patio doors.

Tamarisk trees are sacred trees in the Bible called "Eshel" in Hebrew, saw this online. The Tamarisk is mentioned several times in the Bible. Abraham planted one and it is mentioned in Genesis 21:33, NIV. Usually, black Africans consider trees sacred. Tamarisk is in many parts of the world and probably originated in Asia, if well taken care of, they flower very well. They are beautiful ornamentals.

Personally, I don’t think the trees should ever be cut down unless they’re saying racial slurs. Unless we all hear racial slurs then okay they’re coming down👎👎👎

They had tall nets in other areas, but as a child in the early 1960's, I thought the trees were for privacy. Lawrence Crosley was my Great Great Uncle. Yes, Palm Springs has always been conservative. My aunts were maids and the uncles butlers, porters, and laborers. The only thing that has changed is that those jobs go to Latino people, and we got low end medical employment for women. And if lucky, a man might get a job working in a retail store or warehouse. So let's make it clear, let you tell it, the Indians and Black people got a fair shake. Well, just to straighten you out, we got screwed.

They removed the trees, so it looks like Palm Springs did what the citizens wanted. PS is also in the process of making right the Section 14 violations, too, and it hasn't been easy. For information search youtube for "Palm Springs Section 14".

well, don't the tree's get a say in all of this? Here in Israel it is against the law to cut a tree down. If a tree has to be downed then it must be uprooted and re planted here.

I guess they keep hearing racial slurs from the trees. Kind of like Johnny ethos video about two neighbors one that has a racist tree and the other that has a shrub spreading the word of Jesus. Until the ending where the neighbor finally agrees to get rid of the tree after he compared black Flintstones to the n-word "Okay he's coming down"

I'm not sure why this happened back then? I'm talking about why this became a news story to begin with? But I find it absolutely strange that this is actually based on a KZitemr that made a video about neighbor dispute. Where one neighbor is asking the other neighbor who is a Buddhist to cut down his racist tree. But the Buddhist neighbor won't cut down the tree unless he gets rid of the shrub that's trying to spread the word of Jesus. Almost the end of the video they come to an understanding. But then the tree made one fatal error with calling The Flintstones black along with saying the n word. Which led to well the neighbor that didn't want to cut down the tree you finally agreeing with the other neighbor "Okay he's coming down" That quote always makes me laugh 🤣🤣🤣

Just walked around Palm Springs downtown on the went to brunch ...within 10mins from Sherman's Deli to Wilmaand Friedas my brown daughter was verbally attacked 4 different times. A guy couple screamed at her for not moving her stroller off sidewalk as they walked by. They didn't notice me with her. As I was walking behind her and a lil lighter. Next gay couple, he comments "it's getting dark here" and his man tells him to hush. I had stepped into a store, by the time I came out the had my strong 27 yr old daughter in tears. Feb 11, 2023!

Get off your high horse now, the only time you see these trees in the desert is by the rescue missions in Coachella so the homeless people can camp in them...😂 Get the eff of the block...

Could be. Remember that movie years ago called 'White Dog' about a dog that would only attack black people. Kristy McNichol starred in it.
