This video documents my rack and pinion replacement adventure on a 2006 Chevrolet Impala LTZ with a 3.9L V6 motor. This is a fairly big job, but definitely very doable. The steering rack was leaking power steering fluid pretty badly. The Chevrolet dealership was wanting almost $1,200 to replace the steering rack. I found a Dorman brand rack and pinion at Autozone for $195 plus tax. Having an extra set of hands will make this job go quickly. This video is meant to be an inspiration for you to tackle this project by yourself. I learned a lot doing this job, and I hope you do as well.
