Take a look at your compressor, I think you still have the shipping plug in that Viair compressor. If memory serves me correct you have to pull out that red plug in the one end of the compressor and screw in a round air filter chamber with a foam air filter in it. That filter chamber and filter should have come with the compressor. I think with that red/orange red plug in the end the compressor can't draw air correctly. I think it is starved for air. I have one of those I use for my truck and 5th wheel and it works great at 100 psi. BTW I love all your reviews, they are honest with no product sugar coating. I like and appreciate that.

On your Via compressor, make sure you remove that small red plug and install the air filter. I forgot to do that on mine, and thought I had a bad unit too, wouldn't air up the tires on my RV. With the air filter installed, it worked great.

Good job on your review. I'm 66 and interested in picking up an electric bike. I've seen a fair amount of information about Rad Bikes and I like the approach those young men are taking. The price is right and the bike looks heavy duty and of course the weight confirms that. My question is, I'm 5'-11" and when your standing next to the bike, it looks larger than the Mini name implies. If I may be so bold, how tall are you? I like being able to stretch my legs out when pedaling and I'm just not sure a mini bike would work for me.

007vsMagua I’m 66yrs too, I’m 6.3, 165lbs. I max out the lengths. At 5,11 you’d be just right. The new 2018 model has some things my 2016 doesn’t, suspension and longer handlebar shaft. These are just fun, if you have a Bike trail close you’ll never want to stop. I’ve got 833mi on and smooth sailing.

I would like to say I bought a Viair after watching one of your earlier videos on air compressors and you recommended this air compressor due to the fact it would pump up motorhome RV tires. So I would say that you should be consistent with your videos or make some statement saying after using this Viair compressor it is not what you had earlier reviewed.

Hi Andy , Great review, be careful with your back, thats a 75 lbs. bike you lifting.

I didn't place the bike on a scale and simply used the weight info provided by the manufacturer. When placing the order on the phone I was told the weight is 50 lbs., but the online information states 60 lbs (that weight figure could be the shipping weight). I'm to understand the battery weights 7.5 lbs. and is easily removable. I will say that it does have heft and if there's concern, having a second person assist in lifting it when loading/unloading into a vehicle is probably best. As stated in the video, because it's a folding bike that can be used on trails, having the heft is not necessarily a bad thing as it provides a solid feel. On the positive side, when loading in a motorhome bay, since the opening is low, it's probably best to lift with your knees.

They are good bikes but the thing that bothers me is the instructions are not good enough and support really do not know their stuff, my friend got the rad rover and with within a few min the brakes where squealing, 10 mile later they where still squealing so she phoned them and they told here it will take 50 to 100 miles to bed the pads in, and this is utter rubbish as you can properly bed in pads in around 20 to 30 min does not take that long but more than that but more than that brakes that are not broken in do not cause squealing, what causes the brakes to squeal is improperly set up brakes and this is something the instructions do not tell you to do, they do not tell you how to properly break in the pads and they do not tell you that you need to clean the rotors with a de-greaser of some kind, all the time i see people get these bikes and take them from box to road speed up to the max and mash the brakes hard and this improperly beds in the pads and glazes the pads causing squeal, and all rotors new out the box or ones on new bikes will have oil on them ether from manufacture or handling and it only takes the tiniest amount of oil to contaminate the pads and you get squeal that will never go away

You seem like a very nice guy and I I think you have an informative video in a sort of different way. I must admit this is the only video of yours I've watched. However, your name or channel name is curious. The definition of guru is one who is a master, expert etc. Your angle appears to be, at least in this video, a fly by the seat of the pants method. You sort of go through it...and this Doohickey does this and that whichamacallit does that. "Not that there's anything wrong with that" it's just not a gadget "guru". You could be and I'll leave this to others. The G adget - Fill in the blank. The best thing is that you are imparting information it may just not be definitive.

maybe you mistakenly pressed the wrong brake lever when describing which one is which ? you said you rode motorcycles before ? when you said front brake - you pulled the left brake lever - when you said rear brake - you pulled the right brake lever [ a motorcycle has a clutch on left side and the right side is the front brake - foot control is for rear brake [ you got it backwards at least about how motorcycles work [ i hope they didn't put the front brake on the left hand side - that would be confusing to people who rode motorcycles [ i know - i rode motorcycles [

As stated and evidenced in the RadMini assembly video ( kzitem.info/news/bejne/1ml31oSlh6eGbHo ), I'm not an expert in bicycles, but I have a long history in evaluating products ( www.gadgetguru.com/about/ ). The advice about adjusting the brakes came from the RadMini customer service rep as the front tire was binding, making the noise you heard in the video and not free wheeling. I'll add that he stated and I repeated in the video his advice allowing the brakes 20 miles to properly seat. At this moment I have around ten miles on the bike and have noticed the rear brakes are surging and before calling Rad Bikes if this pulsing doesn't go away when I hit 20 miles, I'll ask you if you feel this is normal during the initial period or if it will require adjustment.
@Bigwingrider1800
7 жыл бұрын
When i read the manual it stated 1-2 mm (.040-.080) clearance on the breaks. This is not normal builds up heat and will slow down the bike (lets face it fat tires it has alot of resistance )
@TheGadgetGuru

@@TheGadgetGuru I was going to make this comment also (as a 30+ miles a few times a week rider). You will find it MUCH more comfortable to ride/peddle as a regular bike. Ergonomically your knee should be just slightly bent at full extension - however, if you plan on leaning towards electric vs peddling mode, I say put it wherever you want. (Ok, it's your bike, put it wherever you want anyways LOL) Do a couple test rides with the seat raised as we describe, might need to raise the handlebar a bit also, and see for yourself. :)

Did you know the growth market for electric bikes are those in their 60's and 70's? This may explain why many of the e-bike sellers have introduced models with lower seat heights and step through frames. It's important to note that this market has the disposable income to afford to make this type of purchase.
@brianbassett4379

1st, let me just say what everybody knows nowadays, hub-motors are lame unless you are building a lightweight electric motorcycle that ends up with a range of 10s of miles. Can you say, "Rolling Resistance"? 2nd, although "fat" bikes are fun in the snow, sand, mud and goat trails, they are gimmicky at best. Not a bike to tour on by any means. 3rd, Large bouncing tires do not replace a quality suspension. Or any suspension. 4th, Folding a bike is nice when you have a bike designed to be tiny. Folding a "fat" tire bike just gives you a cube as enormous as the original configuration. 5th, If you ever decide to test those bolt-on racks with some cargo it will be rattled to pieces after a few hours of wash-board roads.

Thanks Brian. As you can see this review was posted in August 2017 and I've now logged quite a bit of time on my Rad Mini. To address your questions, I'm getting well over 20 miles per charge. How much more? I can't tell you as that's a good day for me. For this bike being a tour bike, surely you know it's not, but it's a fun bike for on and off road riding. While I'll agree with you about the suspension, the fat tires do cushion the ride. Finally, for the rack, I do carry some gear in a rack bag and so far, no problems whatsoever. " Please note that I'll be releasing a video and review of the 2018 Rad Mini (front shock model) next week and I'll be interested in your opinion. Much has changed on this bike in a model year.
@brianbassett4379

Come on now! If it has a hub-motor its simply inferior to a mid-drive ebike. All that matters is that you enjoy the bike of course, but try a mid-drive connected to a Rohloff Speed-hub on a fully suspended tour bike and you might find that you want to ride further. - imgur.com/a/Kdqc9em
