Ordered mine yesterday😀 My first HF radio. Hope its more lively than uhf and vhf. I got into radios 4 years ago and have yet to make a contact. Radios are not popular at all here. Hope the long distance ability of HF will help to make a contact hopefully.

Just make a dipole out of wire and string it up as high as you can get it. RG-8X coax (50 ft or less) (Amazon) 10 meters is HOPPING

I've renewed my ticket, twice now, and haven't made a single transmission in 20 years. :( I love when you put out a new video Bob .. because your voice (and always impeccable audio) reminds me of the good old days in Austin. Proud memories of the gang on 442.15. 73s from Art

Art! Dam, great to hear from you! Notice my hair went grey after I left being around that sea of women at UT. Still having fun with Ham radio every day here. Yup, 442.15 was a good time. Pop in on 446.225 simplex in Austin (if u are there). I made a AllStar link with Hot Springs. It's at 19th and Speedway.

@@robertnagy2163 I'm a bit out of range in San Antonio. I moved from Austin in 2012 and have only been back a few times since. That is a city built for young people. We have the same birthday, OM. The only day of the year that is also a military command (your exact words). Have a great one!!

Right! March 4th into our bright future. It was presidential inauguration day for most of the US's history. Hot Springs National Park here opened on March 4th. We even share a birthday with Rick Perry and Miley Cyrus!

Great review. I watched your review of the Flex 3000 several years ago and it was the deciding factor in my buying one. Your reviews are informative and you present the information very nicely. I have a Radio Shack HTX-10 but it is noisy and missing a knob or two. Might just pick up one of these for some summertime fun!

I have an Icom IC-718 and an Icom IC-728, so I didn't need this radio. I bought it for use as a CB. This radio can be programmed on a computer with the correct cable, which I have. It's a lot easier than trying to program it from the front panel. The quality of this radio is amazing for a communist Chinese radio. It reminds me a lot of my Yaesu 2900R 2 meter radio, and the quality seems every bit as good. This is no Baofeng pile of trash.

Purchased ALINCO DR-CS25T (220 MHZ) and Radioddity QT60 I never thought I'd buy another Radioddity or CB radio. But both radios seem well made for application. Wish for 220 mhz all mode radio.

Very hard to find 220 all mode radios . The 220 module is not easy to find for the Yaesu FT-736R, which is the only choice i can think of. Your better choice is to get a transverter and use it with an HF radio

Perhaps that size case is used for other products in that production facility. Is the extra space enough room for an antenna tuner or digital interface?

Really great review on the QT60. But now the QT80 is coming out with 80w out put and I'm wondering if that extra 20w is gonna be really noticeable, especially on 10m band. And the extra $40 or so price increase. Wondering what you think, is the 20 watts gonna help punch through pile ups?
@robertnagy2163

If it was 40 meters or below... yes. On 10 meters... if the band is open...60W is a serious signal. Look for deals on the QT-60.

On the surface it looks like a good deal until you realize what it doesn't do, and that you'll still need another radio to fill in it's feature gaps (if they're important to you).

look up Retevis Ailunce HS4 .. very similar radio but with CW inbuilt ie AM/FM/LSB/HSB/FM multimode. Probably of similar quality. I'm not sure if the the HS4 can provide 12 mtr after a reprogramme jobbie.

What button mashing do you have to do to get the WX channels. The manual isn't clear about it, and other than most reviewers just glossing over it (i.e. -" and you have some WX channels you can listen to", or thereabouts"
@Yavor54

That's cuz all of us keep getting to them by accident and not remembering how we did it! It's NOT in the manual- but it does exist. I'm still not clear on it. I have re-written many of the Xiegu manuals for them and will likely do this one when I figure out ALL of the buttons. Sorry for now....

REM that the radio is also sold under the French CRC brand, and as Anytone 5555N II with mild operational differences. Early Series 1 units had lower RF output for all modes, and early Ver 1's didn't have the CTCSS/DCS board, - remedied by purchasing one from a UK CB shop and plugging it in! The radio folk will buy today will be the Ver 2 updated units you see here in review.
