I was stationed at Coltishall from 1981-1983, working in ASF. Happy , happy days Dave "Spike" Howard.

Spent a couple if years at Colt - one of my best tours. We were in the hanger behind the 3 in an arc and the loop behind it was our helipad for 2 SAR Wessex helicopters. Great times.

I flew into Coltishall in VC10 and C130 aircraft on exercise moves enroute to Norway, I also was sent on detachment and spent a couple of weeks attached to Mobility Supply Flight prepping and loading equipment for an exercise move. I visited the old radar station at Neatishead and was pleasantly surprised to find lots of memorabilia from Coltishall there, including the sign from Mobility Supply Flight. I have fond memories of going into tourist mode around the Norfolk Broads.

I served at RAF Coltishall 1972-77 at first on the Battle of Britain flight then on the Jaguar. The BOB flight was located in four hangar, the one behind the others, which we shared with the rescue helicopters, when the Lancaster joined in Nov 1973 there was no room in four hangar so it was kept in two hangar, the middle one of the three in front.

RAF Coltishall was where airmen from RAF Neatishead were billeted, I was there from 70 to 72 before moving to the married quarters across from Norwich airport.

And only 6 or 7 frontline Squadrons left in the RAF! 14 yrs of Conservative government has reduced our armed forces to a laughing stock, God help us if we have to face Putin or, even worse, China! We need a min of 3% GDP for the next 10yrs to repair the damage.@@TravellingbacktosAirfields
