i plan to listen to Rachmaninov’s Symphony No.2 at yokoyama minato mirai hall of JPN. on 11st.
For me, starting in the beautiful slow movement at about 45:30, there is a rising melody which gradually gets slower, resolving, pianissimo, at 46:00 - one of the most intense moments in all music. Lovely performance.

Rachmaninov, Symphony no. 2. The conductor is Tugan Sokhiev - not sure about which orchestra, possibly a Russian one. Sokhiev has put in astounding work with both the Bolshoi Theatre Symphony Orchestra at Moscow and the French Toulouse Symphony (Capitole de Toulouse). He stepped down from both of these posts during the spring of this year, because he felt the Ukraine war was driving up demands of political loyalty on both sides, in Russia and in France, that would inevitably interfere with his work as a musician and an orchestral leader.

@@louise_rose At the upper left hand corner is a logo inscribed with Филармония. It’s the official emblem of the “Moscow Philharmonic Society”, as they call themselves in English.

@@eugenebabitchev9549 Thank you! I found their channel here on KZitem a few months ago, and am getting to watch some of their concerts (as well as the Mariinsky orchestra) here online, now that this stupid cultural boycott has made it impossible to get to see them on tv in the West.
