So, I finally got it from the local stockist Prestige Car Care and WOW! One single wash at 40C as instructed after a 12-hour soak was enough to fully restore the absorbency of over 15 towels that were all hydrophobic, some that have been extremely water repellent for years! I always used the Chemicals Guys detergent and vinegar but nothing would be able to kill Sonax BSD which is the main sealant I use on everything. R2R is a game changer. It cleaned the towels really well too and I'm happy the price in the UK is super competitive. Thanks TRC and P&S for helping the environment with this new product!

I was watching the Thursday Q and A this morning, I think I remember seeing your comment. Glad it worked on the older towels 👍

@@GavDetails nice! I knew it was going to be good but not able to restore absorbency to this level. Got some Eagle Edgeless that have been hydrophobic for 3 years but I'd still use it while cursing it, using not so delicate force trying to drown it under water 😊. This afternoon I just dropped it in the bucket after washing and drying it, and it soaked up all the water. Amazing, really.

Great video. This was one of the primary reasons why I stopped using BM with my drying towels. I have several Dreadnaughts and Griots PFM’s that barely absorb anymore. Just ordered some R2R to see if I can bring them back.

Any quick detail spray or spray wax / sealant will affect towels. If your towels are that bad, then maybe 2 soaking sessions followed by a machine wash may help. My towels were not that far gone but I was noticing less absorption. Thanks for checking out the video and fingers crossed your towels can be refreshed.

Good results here. I have a bucket of water with an ounce of R2R on standby during my auto detail jobs. MF towels for polishing and sealants, etc go straight into the bucket to start the pre-soak. Sometimes I forget, and they soak for several days. Wash cycle and hang dry, ready for the next job. Fully soiled towels get their own soak and wash and are stored in the #2 bin labeled for wheels, lower trim, door jams and under hood. Tossing the towels is only for those that are too far gone and are shedding fibers. Inevitably, they have a limited lifespan. Thanks for making this video. ✅ 🧺 🌟

Tried this on my old Gyeon Silk drying towels that are CLOGGED up with sealant because I use a drying aid with my towel, I use micro-restore, they soaked for a whole day and a half and the water was gross after, but the towels weren't restored to how they were brand new, but they did come out way cleaner than before. Still good stuff because my other nicer mf towels came out nice and soft!

Great post, it's good for consumers to know the product is not a miracle worker. Some towels may be too far gone. But the bright side is new drying towels will be in better hands from the start. Thanks for checking out the video.

Looks as if no one is using Griot’s Garage Microfiber Cleaner anymore 🧐.

I have used the Chemical guys cleaner and the original Micro Restore. They all do the job. Use what you like and what fits in your budget.

@@GavDetails actually I really like R2R now, because I no longer need to add detergent in addition to the product as you have to do with GG; and of course, finding a detergent without fragrances and other unwanted additives isn’t always easy.

@@johnhoey4605 I agree. No longer needing distilled white vinegar also helps. 👍

Drying towels that were used 2-3 times should not produce black water. The towels washed were not used on wheels or the engine bay. The color of the water shows the bead maker being removed. Thanks for checking out the video.

Thanks for the vid! After the pre soak in R2R what kind of detergent did you use for the wash cycle ?

Rags to riches was used in the washing machine. 2 ounces due to the size of the load of towels. 1 ounce is said to be sufficient after the initial soak.
