At 0:30, is that Otto Kuhler's own painting of the "Mountaineer"? Also where and how can I get a copy of that and the Mountaineer print on Red Hill grade seen at 1:12? Thanks.

Yes that's the Kuhler painting I got permission from his estate. The O&W photo on Red Hill grade was from the O&W Historical Society. Hope this helps.

Tobe, Thank you for answering. YEARS ago, I saw a small B&W image of this painting in some long forgotten magazine with a description of the painting's history, but I've no idea now as to where I'd seen that article. However, I do recall the article mentioned it was done as a commission by William F. Helmer (author of the "O&W") back in 1959 as his book's cover art, but Helmer wanted something a bit more "restrained" instead and Kuhler obliged by providing the "Night At Middletown" image that was used on the book's color jacket. In the '80's while on business in the Denver area, I took a side trip to the Golden (Co.) Railroad Museum hoping to find this water color painting there as I'd heard they were given all of Otto Kuhler's materials upon his passing. Would you please write to me at my name as one word, at "A" oh well..... (you know the rest, lol!) I'd like to discuss something I'm certain you'd enjoy. By the way, you know that really awful and crumby all color NYO&W book? Well, it has TERRIBLE color reproduction of those Ultra-Rare Mountaineer Kodachrome shots in it, as the publisher actually outright hates steam and loves diesel! (That's the hint.) Thanks again! Regards, Paul
