Learned exactly what I need to know.... taking the main cover off to show which stations are associated with wire colors was particularly helpful. Appreciate you taking the time to make this one!

I’ve put off figuring out this fix for months because I didn’t think it was gonna be easy and that it was gonna take a pro irrigation dude that costs wayyyyy too much to get it done. But, good news! None of that happened and your video is why! $12 and 4 minutes is all it took! Now I’m sitting in the backyard watching my grass getting rescued from this Texas heat! Thanks a ton!

I have an Rain Bird ST8 controller. I noticed ALL my grass getting dry and found the controller flashing "Err 77" except the first "7" was turned facing the second "7". When I tried a manual run, it would fail and flash "No AC". I spent over a half an hour on the phone with a Rain Bird technician. He was very kind and patient and tried a number of things including a key press sequence which performed a factory reset. Ultimately he decided that the controller was bad, and since it was out of warranty I would have to purchase a new one. He suggested the TRU controller. I purchased one from Home Depot the next day. When I hooked it up it also failed and was displaying, "Master control valve shorted or high current." I went to the master control valve and opened it manually. Then I disconnected the black wire from the "MAS" terminal on the controller (this is the wire for the master control valve) and the controller and watering system started working fine. I went to my master control valve, disconnected the the solenoid wires, took my multi-tester and checked the solenoid's resistance. It measured zero; the solenoid was bad. I left the master control valve disconnected and hooked my old ST8 controller back up. It now worked fine, too. SO, unfortunately, that error code with a backwards 7 facing a normal 7 is not in the technician's troubleshooting handbook, or perhaps my error code was just an anomaly. It took hooking up a different controller, the TRU, to get an error code that actually pointed to the problem. I am waiting to hear from Rain Bird as to how I get reimbursed for the TRU controller I did not need. Thank you for your video, it is very good. I just post my different problem here in case someone else experiences the same thing and this will help them. Regards.

This is the same issue I have. Going to give it a go. I tried resets and my iPhone App won't reconnect, so I probably made issues. Hoping the solinoid replacement wrongs. Thanks for the video. - UPDATE: Went to Lowes, bought the control valve with a solinoid. Took the solinoid and hooked it up. Your video was spot on and saved me a bunch. Thanks again

You sir, have saved a lot of people a lot of time and money. Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing with us all! $13.41, that was my total cost of repair after visiting The Home Depot for a $12 replacement solenoid (mine was the standard threading) and a $2 pack of outdoor silicon-sealed wire nuts. Please let me know if I can buy your next beer.

This video was so helpful. I had an error message on my rain bird co troller. “master valve short”. This video helped me find the master valve, identify the solenoid, and buy and replace said solenoid. Thanks so much! All in all took less than 30 minutes.

There was no other such video or info online. Great help. My ESP-TM2 showed this error "master valve/pump wire shorted or high current esp-tm2". Just changing the solenoid (from home depot) fixed it all. Thanks.

I have the same controller, sprinkler system just stopped working, i am not getting that alert light or any message, do you think it might be the selenoide also ?
@JordanMoree
4 жыл бұрын
Hmmm...For me it was a wiring short hence why I got the error message. It’s possible that the wiring is still good and the solenoid is simply stuck which is why there’s no error code.

I have the same rainbird. This morning the irrigation was working fine, but late evening number 1,2 & 3 suddenly stopped working while 4,5 & 6 was working fine, really confused why this happened, when i open manually it pushed water just fine, but automatic doesn”t work for the irrigation. Can you guess what might be the problem.
@JordanMoree
3 жыл бұрын
Doesn’t sound like a valve or solenoid problem if it works on manual. Maybe an electrical connection issue when it’s in auto mode. I’m not a pro on this but if that is the case it’s beyond my knowledge how to fix it.

@@JordanMoree Turns out the wiring was a bit loose connected to the valves, causing it not to work.
@rodgercoman4933

I think your #4 valve might be at fault. Might not be the issue as the next few are either impacted by the 4th one or you have 3 bad solinoids. Finding the Round Green Covers can be an issue. Mine were over grown with grass. Poked around until I heard plastic click. Good luck.

Can you drop the link on where you bought that exact solenoid
My error code shows four different numbers plus the MV. Does this seem possible that all 4 solenoids and the MV solenoid all went out at the same time? If so, what would cause that?
@JordanMoree
4 жыл бұрын
I guess that would depend on how they were wired. A short in the common ground could possibly have affected one area causing multiple valves or solenoids to short out. If the MV was affected also I would replace the MV first and test each station individually to see which stations are in fact not working.

@@JordanMoree thank you! I'm about to burn my yard down since I'm so frustrated with this whole thing. Plus being 112° outside today does and for similar for the next two weeks does not help.
