Do people really gripe about Jimmy Page's alternate tuning?! It's the only way if they're REALLY Jimmy Page fans with a thirst for the intricacies of his playing right?? Boy I can hear it now. The more you figure out how to tune the strings properly on this instrument the better your ears become too This guy (who's name is unknown) doesn't want any attention whatsoever and teaches a ton of songs brilliantly. You are a great teacher 12 foot chain. And Talk Away too. It's the little things I want to keep learning about🎸thanks for this lesson! I'm on day 2 or 3. And it's amazing I was intimidated so I kept putting it off. Already past the first couple chapters. I'm hooked

Also, strangely...I had been looking for a particular music documentary this morning about Zappa and Capt. Beefheart among others called "From Straight To Bizzarre", and found it on trebleclef's channel who, coincidentally, had an acoustic version of The Rain Song's mid section I have borrowed for a few years..so had the song in my mind and two minutes later see your lesson...Weird, eh?

I have been away from music for greater than 35 years. I was having the worst time trying to find a path then I remembered this Iconic and Master Composition. So i put down the electrics got the old acoustics refreted dusted off the book and it is the Best Medicine. i leave one Acoustic in this tuning for discovering pathways that are NOT rain song. Ie you can play the guitar or play.

I had a Gibson EDS 1275 bought it new in late 80s $ 1500. Cherry Had quite a collection But have been always a Bassist first I learned lead guitar and played lead in bands but nowhere as great as you. The alternate tuning is a must and why it is necessary to have more than one guitar , inaddition to other sounds from different pups . Guitar playing got cut short from disability but playing bass has changed for me with what M.S. did where now all I have to do is basically listen to the song. Sorry this is long I Think Your Teaching is EXCELLENT, DEFINITELY SHOWS HOW LONG YOU BEEN PLAYING , To Be Teaching All these Classic Rock Songs and to be incredibly accurate on them.

And there was much rejoicing - yay!! Your gabbing is just enough to get ideas across anyway. This on 12 string would be a nightmare tuning, six string, not so bad. Standard shapes with different sounds happening, always a jolt, but the reward is putting it all together. Wayyy!!

The rain song was inspired by George Harrison from the Beatles! George complained Zeppelin had no ballads. The first 2 chords are from the Beatles song "Something". I find it strange to you yourself didn't bring this up being a Beatles fan! Before the song was released Harrison had first listened and was greatly approved. ❤

Strange you remind me of someone i knew when i was a kid who played guitar 🎸 Always loved the guitar when i was kid too. Got one on my birthday from Toys R Us around age 7. I was too young though. My mother let me return it for a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Technodrone toy i wanted so bad also, but really wish i was more patient and kept it, because im 41 now and purchased a Les Paul like Jimmy Page's started 2 and half years ago, and ive got a everyday routine, n its my passion now. If ONLY I stuck with it at age 7! Everything for a reason i suppose. Anyways thanks again.

If you are performing, retuning seems to take forever, especially for the audience. It's also rough on strings. And some guitars are more stable and handle tension changes better than others. The best thing, IMHO, is to have a guitar for every tuning.
@marcbolan1818
Жыл бұрын
@@mikelundquist4596 I get that, but I have been playing gigs for years when I had little money at the start and still had 2 guitars - one was a Tele typically in Open G ready and other in std. I get it - I have used C tuning and all the others, but if you are wanting to nail the sound - you gotta do it.

@@12footchain I see that, and it was helpful for most other parts. But trouble is, it goes by at lightning speed and has no other explanation or going over it more than that. I had to slow down to .25 speed to finally get it down. Appreciate your hard work, just trying to make your lessons more thorough for the future!
