Today's rain walk is in Thornford, a pretty village in Dorset, England. My walk was cut short by the extreme wind & rain you can see at the start of the video. I was concerned that my DJI Pocket 2 camera was going to get damaged so I had to stop recording to dry it off. The wind speed almost turned the rain drops into bullet-like water.
It was very dark weather during this rain walk, and I had the DJI pocket 2 set to fixed manual with exposure set for the sky so that it would retain all details. I couldn't brighten the video in post in an effective manner - it seemed to affect the colours & details negatively, so I left the brightness as it was. This is one of the reasons I prefer to use an iPhone 12 for recording on dark days- it can handle lighting changes more effectively (such as going into woods & out into the open) because you can switch between fixed & auto exposure while shooting, which you can't do on the Pocket 2. However, the Pocket 2 does give some nice looking softer results that could be mistaken for film.
Unlike in other countries, rainy days without wind are extremely rare in the UK, and it is one of the reasons so few people walk outside during the English winter months. Wind can reduce the apparent temperature by a huge amount. For example, a still winter's day in central Europe at 0 C would feel less cold than a windy day in the UK at +8 C.
