I have two questions for you. It’s often said that the Citation jets are very fast only behind some Lear jet models while others call the Citation the Slow-ration..? Number 2 can you use only nonpolarized sunglasses or only polarized to see the display screens. I was pretty young and my mother to me to downtown Memphis TN in a high rise building that the law firm she worked for had their offices in. I was promised a great show overlooking the Mississippi River at Springfest in May, I think the attorneys cut the air way back on the weekends. While waiting the was a brand new copy of some plane magazine with the Citation on the cover. No I didn’t steal it either. And the big show was a Marine Harrier jet came whistling up the river stopped did a few few 360° and some nose down turns. Pretty cool for any 8yr old to see. 1982. I believe. I did get the the jet 2 weeks later.
@TheRunwayRyan
Жыл бұрын
@@Marks-Law It depends on the model. The CJ3+ and below are what are referred to as the slow-tations. They are straight wing aircraft so their top speed isn't that great. The Cj3+ though is one of the best performing citations out there. The Cj4 has a slightly slept wing (7 degrees), so it is faster. In the jet world, most people consider a jet fast if it can cruise at Mach 0,80. The 3+ is 0.737 and the 4 is 0.,77. In regards to the polarized question, also depends on the model and avionics installed. The Cj4 has Proline 21, and you are correct the polarized sunglasses are not much good. I do however wear them still, and that's what I'm wearing in this video. I've found the Proline screens are still hard for me to see with regular sunglasses, so I just gave up and wear polarized. The Cj3+ has Garmin, and you can see it with any sunglasses.

NICE JOB! Two things I saw where you separate the men from the boys. When they assigned FL430, they were garbled and your callsign wasn't clear. While we KNOW the assignment was for you, you went back and confirmed it. Second, instead of making a visual approach and 'flying the ILS,' you requested the ILS. Unfamiliar airport, high terrain, night landing.... Ryan, I'm proud and happy to see your professional attitude. I'd fly with you any time, any where, and bust minimums with you any day of the week!! Nice video. You speak and teach like a friend of mine, Adam Williams--we were both business systems teachers traveling as commercial passengers domestically and abroad. I've been to Monroe once and Bozeman twice, went to Bozeman to teach for clients in Big Sky Montana and in West Yellowstone. I learned how to fly fixed wing two place light sport registered aircraft--limited to 1320# gross though some weighed in well under that, and also how to fly dual and single place trikes, the latter being the only aircraft to stay within FAR-103 rules while still being safe (I merited an aircraft's safety by its rate of climb and speed envelope between stall and VNE. I chose to rent, and not extend my career to training or get certified in controlled airspace, because I can understand English well but speak it slowly, and I did not speak fast enough I felt for ATC--I have an author's mind and the words come out spontaneously, lol. So no way could I become a CFI and my day job paid better than an airline pilot, though just barely, and while still working with my hands it was only because most public systems speakers use their hands, and also we set up our own equipment which can include a file server and up to 25 training stations. What I find in you and most who do so well teaching about flight, is your multitasking skills you use when you explain what you are doing and also work with ATC. Your professionalism is key--a laid back flow in your teaching, and of course you are always "flying the aircraft', something my fixed wing and trike CFI's drilled into me. The beauty of this site is it allows us inside the flight deck of a biz jet, in a real flight, something Microsoft's Flght Simulator 2020 does well for virtual pilots, though it does not extend the feel of flying in a 'live atmosphere' with variable winds and chop. 🏊♀🕊🦢🦤

@TheRunwayRyan
Жыл бұрын
A little hard to describe, but there is a sight glass on the side of the engine that you can see through another door. There are two lines on it, one that says add oil and one that says fill line or something similar that indicates too full. More importantly though, there are 4 bolts that hold the sight glass on. When adding oil, you fill to the third bolt. In a future video I’ll try to film it for you.

I’m hoping to get back into night flying in the very near future and displays like that are new to me since the last time I flew at night. Wondering about outside visibility with extra light coming from the displays. Editing note: at @10:51 music comes in a bit too loud and then fades out at 11:16. Not sure what that was about.
