Make sure your totes have a 2 or 5 on the bottom which means they are safe to grow or store foods in. Any other numbers mean the totes are made from chemical recycles that can be absorbed into the soil which will transfer into your food plants and in your produce that you eat. By the way, Your little one is absolutely adorable!

I've gardened for many years. With the world in such a crazy state, I'm going to try 4-6 totes of veggies and share with my elderly neighbors next door. I had a dying tree taken down in the front yard before the snows came this past winter. I'm going to use some of those fresh wood chips to partially fill the totes. Last year my dogs ate tomatoes, peppers and strawberries I grew in the yard ! Now the totes can go in the sunny front yard so the harvest will be people food. 😊 Thank .you for your inexpensive ideas. Your little one is adorbs!! Peace to all from Buffalo, NY.

Community gardens would be even more useful than the grassy parks covering sections of a town or city. Maybe those with a lower income can pay less or nothing to rent a square of the community garden. I'm not sure how it works because my own small town lacks one, but I know they exist elsewhere.

With the composting material, something I learned doing the very same thing, is that some plants do like a deeper depth of soil for their roots. I learned the hard way that plants like pumpkins, watermelon, tomatoes, winter squash and sweet potatoes all like 24+ inches of soil to grow in. I’m in New Mexico and have found tubs a great addition to my garden.

Keep up the good work and educating people about growing food. I used to have a half acre truck garden in Missoula, Montana. Now I'm 80, on my own, and have a tiny space at my apartment complex. I live at over 6,000 ft. elevation, in a high mountain valley... where it gets routinely 40 below zero in eight months - long winters, where the ground is frozen solid until May.

Good tip about knowing your area. I'm in AZ, so it's already too late to do some things, but maybe in containers so I can move them around, I can keep moving my plants to a cooler partially shady spot in the afternoon. That means getting up early which isn't my thing, but if I want a garden, this girl has to change her ways. Hey, like your video, especially the music. That is what kept me around.
