The reason this is creating moisture is because your vents (the little brown plugs - 3 each) are plugged up or pushed too far in. Pull them out, clean them and just put them in. They are vents for the lights as they heat up and cool down with humidity.

Do you have to take the whole headlight out?

Unfortunately it’s way easier to access by taking out the entire light assembly.

Dr Jackson is correct, these headlights need to breathe and sealing them completely is a bad idea. Mopar TSB 08-086-13 talks about headlamp fogging occurring normally from time to time. Excess water build up is indicative of a lens seal failure.

The only thing he was right about was the gasket that goes on the back of the headlight other than that the brown caps are the vents to keep the unit breathing. Sometimes due to time and weather condition the little brown caps start rattling around and closing off the vent. You can use a very small dab of super glue or gorilla glue to keep the Caps from rattling loose again.

Thanks so much! 2018 Ram 1500. Same issue, same light. Threw up a Hail Mary before buying a new assembly & came across your video & you saved me not only a lot of money but a lot of of time AND made me look cool in front of the wife for “DIY” approach. So thank you for figuring that out! Definitely a new subscriber!

You messed up when you sealed that vent with silicone. You should leave it open so that air can circulate to allow the moisture to escape 50 bucks says you have the same problem again next year.

The reason it gets full of condensation is because there are o think 3 plugs on the back of yhe headlight. These are vents and for some reason the caps got pushed in too far and closes off vent not allowing cavity to breath. You have to pull these caps out so they are fully retracted but stiill in plug hole and you won't have any more problems 😊😊
@HemiJB91

Your problem could've been the air vents were too tight. This is a common problem on these 4th gens. Always the driver side. Theres like 3-4 vents thats pushed in too tight at the back and needs to be pull out a bit for the headlight to breath.

Nice video. On a RAM 3500 it is possible to the lower bolt without removing the grill. When replacing the lower bolt I taped it to the socket so it stayed using blue painters tape. Also there are 3 light brown colored caps that vent the headlight assembly. It’s a good idea to pop them off and check the black insert to be certain they are not clogged.

Hey Cory and Marcie! Geez, nothing like dismantling half of the front end on your truck to fix the condensation problem! I’m seeing on KZitem that the Promaster chassis [that so many Class B manufacturers use] have the same problem…guess what!…yup, I’ll be buying a Class B (hopefully soon) built on the Promaster chassis as well. Must’ve been a Dodge architect who had a bad day with a hangover when he drew up the plans! I just love having problems before I even obtain the ‘problem maker’! 😂😂😂. Good to see y’all again! Stay safe and happy travels! ~Jim~
