The bucket in the supply line reduces the head pressure, slowing the output, never saw that before. The output flow is proportional to the head pressure, all other factors consistent.

I have a tip for ya that will improve your intake pipe, instead of drilling holes, use a saw and cut slits in the pipe, this will allow it to pull more water with less silt being sucked in.. I have used that method for decades and I have never had any major issues with it getting clogged up... Try it and let me know how it works for you... Be Blessed..
@anrit5972
3 жыл бұрын
I must agree, dewatering spears have slits and they are imbedded in the earth. I would also have my bucket up near the intake and use two inline balanced with a 2” or 3” pipe, grit and organics will fall out of the water when it flows at less than 3 feet per second. A square tank with the water forced to flow in a laminar direction is best practice.
@TheWolfster001
3 жыл бұрын
@@anrit5972 Also if they were to dam it up at6 the highest point just by 6 inches, and use a larger diameter pipe, they would vastly increase the pressure and how much water they will get..

For pump mounting; add in a T with 4" legs and caps on the 'leg's ' and clamp that down to mounting board or railroad tie piece. Did that often for water lines stability. 76 yrs and 60 plus years of rams experiences.

Very cool my friend. I have an idea for making the "priming" easier: before running the garden hose delivery pipe up the hill, keep it downhill and let it fill up with water. Then put a cap on the end and close the delivery ball valve. Now you can drag it uphill, trapping the water in the hose. Once it's all the way uphill you can uncap it and open the ball valve and the hose full of water gives the pump instant back-pressure.

Ram pumps are an old technology, and you can make them yourself from components. You'll need to do your own research on part selection, supply, price, how to customise the design per situation, and if you can turn a profit as a business, but if you can figure all that out, why not be your own startup? The idea has been around for centuries, so you don't have to worry about patents or intellectual property.

Just a thought. Drill the hole in the lid for the first bucket about halfway across the lid. Then if it ends up being too long or too short you have about a foot of wiggle room by rotating the lid a few degrees.
@Aboudy1989
2 жыл бұрын
You can raise the cycle speed by making double and tripple check valves in series, but make sure to put small pressure tanks between them so that the pvc tube doesnt crack on the long run when more than one check valves closes at the same time, or making them in Parrallel to raise back pressure, similar to electricity by harvesting Back EMF.
@stephenlepage
5 ай бұрын
I'm skeptical. Adding more check valves and more pressure tanks doesn't actually increase the amount of energy available to the system. The energy comes from water hammer converting supply line kenetic energy into pressure head. You might be able to increase the cycle frequency, but if the pressure differential over the check valve has been reduced, you'll get a reduction in flow through the check valve on each cycle, so there wouldn't be any net gain.

Since they don't have electricity in there. It would be perfect setup to throw a few solar panels outside. Get a few batteries and an inverter and hook the subpanel up to an off-grid system and they would be setup with at least some lights and fans to move the air around.

If you are able to use the pump to carry the water up enough into a tower then it's possible they may be able to run a low pressure irrigation system. Maybe something that trigger once per day by a timer that controls a solenoid valve that runs off solar. That way it's semi automatic and the tower would have time to recharge.
