Ramachandra Guha is an Indian writer and historian. He is one of the most renowned Indian historians, with his research focusing on environmental, social, economic, political, contemporary and cricket history. Guha authored an acclaimed two-volume biography of Mahatma Gandhi in 2013 and then 2018. In November 2020, he published his new book “The Commonwealth of Cricket: A Lifelong Love Affair with the Most Subtle and Sophisticated Game Known to Humankind”; a rich account of the history of cricket in India over the past decades. Ramachandra Guha was also actively involved in India’s political life; a vocal dissentor of Prime Minister Modi’s citizenship law that discriminated Muslims, he was arrested in 2019 during a protest.
