Air Conditioning backup idea - - > I keep a 129 Volt 5,000 BTU air conditioner window unit in storage. With a fabricated plywood "bracket" that fits the window opening all I have to do is mount the bracket in the window, slide the AC unit in and run an extension cord to the generator. The AC will keep the master bedroom area comfortable. My future plan is to run this small AC unit using my 4 Renogy 100W solar panels. - - Fortunately we have NOT lost power during the current heat wave here in lovely north Louisiana. :) For backup lighting I've got a Home Depot light fixture with 2 light heads that I mounted on the ceiling near the electrical panel. That provides enough light for me to safely move around setting up the generator etc. THANKS Russ for your time and the educational videos. Have a blessed day.

I remember the day I mounted my 20000 BTU ac in the shop window. I was overmatched then and needed a second pair of hands. I now would be overmatched with a 5000 BTU unit :>). I am thinking of getting 1 or 2 mini split units to straight off solar. But I'm afraid the return on investment may take longer than I got around here. I could mount Window units (lot cheaper) in a couple of windows at opposite ends of the house. See, now you got me thinking about ac stuff

Thanks for the insight into the 120 vs 240 volt circuits! I’m in the same boat as you and only have a couple true 240 volt circuits! One being my well pump! I always learn something thru your videos! Thanks Russ!

Don't use ice, use frozen bottled water. No extra humidity, easier to handle, no drain needed.

I'm thinking of using some kind of radiator (oil cooler?) and then the air never touches the cold water and prevent raising the humidity. The ice should last longer, but it would require more watts to power the pump. too. thanks Eddy.

Your description of the 240/120 single phase leg split phase upside inverted.....You are beyond my understanding. When it gets this deep, I call Sparky the electrician! Good luck!

I think I would be as nervous about hiring an electrician named Sparky as much as hiring a cook named "Tiny" :>). BTW, it might make more sense when I show it completed.

@@russveinot5754 yes it probably will. I just don't have much more than basic electrical skills.
