They tell whole stories. E.g. in Dalai Lama (Reise, Reise) they effectively tell the Goethe's poem "Der Erlkönig". In the world of modern superfluous music, it is almost unthinkable. What a band.

I'm the same. I started learning at 15 years old, I'm 36 with an extensive vocabulary but I never had an opportunity to practice with others, being not many people speak German in Michigan, so my sentence structure has never developed properly. I was part of a gaming community that had lots of Germans but they were not very helpful and immediately tried to talk down to me for not understanding more. Their lack of patience is their problem, not mine. I just sound like a village idiot...trying.....to remember....which.....word........comes.......next, and I've learned that most Germans can't stand that so I've essentially stopped trying to learn from native Germans, as nice of a people they are, they're not good teachers in my experiences so far. I can read German much better than understanding it through listening and have no problems communicating with someone who speaks German through text so long as they understand my English.

Some people listen to music for the lyrics and the message. I've always been someone who listens to music for the music. I love Rammstein for how their music sounds, even though I don't have any idea what their German lyric songs are about. Yet, somehow, when I do get the translations for them, even though I don't really give a shit, I still end up somehow liking them more.

I think it’s about a child who’s mom is a prostitute. So he has to go in the closet while she works in the next room. Maybe young mom (that’s why she’s the “sister”). The child of course isn’t happy. And as often happens, the mom is killed while the child is hidden. I could be wrong that’s my interpretation.

Hoo boy… it’s a dark one. It’s from a poem Till wrote about a little boy whose big sister is a sex worker. She gives him a doll (Puppe) to distract him but he hears her getting beaten, abused, etc. and her screams through the walls and it disturbs him greatly to the point of ripping off the head of the doll. One night a client murders her and he responds by ripping off the client’s head the way he did the doll

Wait....is the doll he's referring to a voodoo doll? And at the end, he bit off the head of his sister's voodoo doll and that's why it says "a hit"
@dierealitat9485
3 жыл бұрын
no. the translation is really basic. its a normal doll for children. he just witnesses how his sister works as a whore each night and sees how she gets treated by some men and one day witnesses the murder of her by one of the customers and he probaly got a bit twisted in his head so he starts to rip off the dolls head and bites off her neck. he translated the part with the hit wrong. it wasnt just a hit. he witnessed how a customer bludegend her to death.
@dierealitat9485
3 жыл бұрын
@Nich Hodge he translated it wrong. the original text is "und er schlug sie tot" which translates to he bludgend her to death. u can translate "schlug" wit hit but in this context it means bludgening. "tot" means death. u could say he hit her till she died but that doesnt sound to nice to my german ears
