I lived in US for sometime. Once I was in Hartford airport after a travel and was waiting for my luggage when a homeless Afro American came and sat next to me. He said that he came to airport to use the restroom and a staff in airport gave him a dollar. He then dozed off. This was in Feb and I realised for the first time, how being homeless in US is way more challenging. I was moved to tears. I took about 60$, and waited till my baggage came. Then I woke him up, gave the money, and went to collect the baggage. He was sitting and watching me rather than looking at the money. Finally, when he did, he let out a big unbelievable gasp.. this was 10 years ago.. I still think of him.. I hope that he could have at least got warm clothing with that money.. 😞
