Heater cores tend go bad real fast in novas mine always broke the input and output nipple on the core . Another way is if it's all rivited up and looks like monkey did in the dark lol guys tend to take thecac box off in order to get more power because the AC compressor take power away from engine.

You have a lot of great information on your channel which of I just found. I know a lot about these old Nova’s but you’ve passed my expertise😅. I have a 71 2 door 6 cylinder car that is mostly solid except for a few rust bubble in the lower corners of the passenger doors and lower rear fenders. I’ll probably be fixing it myself as I’ve done before with other cars. Still learning from you and other channel similar. Thanks for the videos.

I have a rare Chevy II. It's a 65 4 dr SS. No lie. I still have the original 194 straight 6 and powerglide. Neither have been rebuilt. Mileage unknown. She currently has a 383 Vortec topped with a Q-Jet and I recently put a Turbo 350 in her. Christine is the name she was given by others. For good reason.

With a fully intact and drivable car, it's much easier to tell factory a/c from heater-only. If you didn't buy AC you didn't get face-level vents. There's a different dash pad that has no hint of what would be where the center ones are, and a blanking panel for the one on the far left of the dash. This was the case for a lot of '70s GM cars and their holdovers built into the '80s - I think squarebody trucks and Chevettes were the last still being built like that.

73-74 doors are different on the inside because the window crank and door handle are in a different location i have a 72 door on my 74 but it has a door felt that stops short because of the wing window, i did put the full length window in it and i had to give up a socket for a shim to make it work but the door panel will not fit without cutting the inside off of both the 72- and the 74 doors, and swapping them, and welding them back on. also the gas tanks on the 73-74 are stair stepped for the spare tire cut out in the trunk , so the older tanks will not work on the later models.

Not sure exactly what you’re asking. If you want to put 72 taillights in your 73 tail panel but keep the license plate area, then you could get the brackets from the back of a users cut out 72 tail panel but it would be quite a bit of work. It’s less work to change the panel out but then you have to run the older bumper and switch fuel tank. Gets into a lot of work.

Right on the money about 1968 door locks. The are farther back on the door. Tip for 1973-74 Nova owners looking for truck/hatch floors. While new isn’t available yet, if you can find a good 4th Gen (1975-79) parts car, the trunk floors will fit with very few modifications.

Jaina Lynn , Both a M-20 and M-21 Muncie 4 speed will fit right in , Just remove the Saginaw trans case , leave the bell housing and clutch there , Slide in the Muncie of your choice and then install the drive shaft , It's ready to go ! M-22 will NOT fit , unless you change the clutch disc , As the M-22 Rock Crusher imput shaft has different splines from the M-21 and M-20 Muncie

my 74 is a numbers matching car and it came with a 3 speed muncie As did most everything else that gm made through the 80's so a muncie will fit but are you willing to mess up a numbers matching car? i still have my original alternator and starter and powersteering pump and even the little bracket on the back of the starter. but after 32 years in storage to preserve it, all of my plastic interior parts have desentegrated. if i would have known that i would have kept it home and drove it more for sure.

@@Tx.La-Z-Boy , I bought my 74 in pieces , and 3 boxes where the back seat used to be , It originally came out with a 350 with a 2 barrel carb and Automatic trans with a 10 bolt rear end , My 74 Nova now has a built small block 327 , aluminum intake, 750cfm carb, Stainless Steel Headers , MSD distributor and multi-spark box, SFI Certified flywheel , 11 inch clutch , M-21 Muncie 4 speed , 12 bolt posi with traction bars, bucket seats , rear mount battery and rear mount Radiator , Yes the Radiator is in the trunk ! Both Bumpers are tucked up closer like the 70 Nova is , front turn signals are in the front bumper and not in the grill , So Nothing is original but a little bit of frame and sheet metal , Numbers matching doesn't mean anything to me , and it doesn't matter if it raises the value or not , I don't plan to sell it no matter it's value , I plan to drive the wheels off of it !

Great video. I worked Nova's for many years. Specialized in the 1968-'72. I was a member of NNN. One thing you missed is that the front of the hood on the '73 & '74 Nova has a different curve. It will fit and no one would notice but you may have to adjust the latch to make it work properly. Keep up the good work.

Thanks for all the very useful knowledge in your videos. I always learn something new here. With that said, I have owned a 74 since 88. I have accumulated many parts over the years. I converted to front buckets about 10-12 years ago. I still have the front bench seat assembly that have been out in the weather. As far as I can tell the frame is still in decent shape, aside from some surface rust. If you are in the East Texas area and looking for a front bench seat, I may have one for you. I may have other parts if anyone is interested. Thanks again for the videos, keep them coming!

I’m still measuring and trying to figure it out. At some point you’re not converting you’re just putting a 4 door VIN on a 2 door body. Maybe though. Just maybe…
@itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852
Жыл бұрын
@@Shop209 How about if you leave the roof connected to the fire wall front cab section to the roof? That way you're using the more door as the donor lower and rear body? Maybe disconnect from where the quarter panel meets the roof in the back and the front cab section even where the doors bolt on dash all that front section. Use the more door front section as patch panels for the 2 door front section where needed. This should make it easier to convert and you get the 2 door vin plus the trim tag and the more door is just a parts donor this way?
@Shop209
Жыл бұрын
The 2 door doesn’t have a VIN. That’s why I cut it in two. The front was actually in decent shape. Still have it.
@itseithergonnaworkoritaint7852
Жыл бұрын
@@Shop209 Oh ok, I was thinking more of a donor like in the shape of the drag car to transform a more door to a 2 door. You could still use the drag car body to do that and make the more door conversion the drag car? That way when it is a 2 door it will have a 2 door vin. Then you can even make what's leftover of the 2 door into a more door if you wanted to? Didn't know the specifics about the 2 door you were thinking about using is how/why I devised my plan the way I did. But it is your stuff so ultimately you're going to do it your way and I will still watch the series at the edge of my seat to see how it turns out.👍
