On the topic of the "purpose" of your budget challenge videos, I'd argue that it can be inspirational to people who are struggling with income. 365 days ago, I found myself with no income, in a new country with no family or friends to support me. Having watched your budget challenge videos helped me see food - or the lack thereof - of a "creative medium" of sorts. To me, it was less about buying food with a budget, but more about knowing what resources are available to you and how to make the most of them. I'm now stable with a job and a place to call home, but I still find myself humming the tune to the background music you put on your budget challenge videos for the shopping segment. Thank you, Mr. Shrimp.

I went there in 1990, and we went and stood on his most famous appendage. It is said that his 'hampton', if you will, was not originally that large, but mischevious scourers one year extended it to his navel. It was regularly scoured, and afterwards, the scourers would have a cakes and ale and dancing blowout in the small earthwork above the giant's (sometimes called Helis) head, which is called 'The Trendle'. Mayday celebrations are still held there. Love the time-lapse. Venus was visible for a long time that morning.

Years ago I (a wild colonial) bicycled about in England. I'd done my research on rings, stones, castles, cathedrals, and many of the other wonderful places I expected to see. One of the scary things about mushrooms is that being poisoned by one can make you unable to eat _any_ fungi afterwards, even yeast-leavened bread. Knowing whether what you’re picking has poisonous lookalikes in your area is really important.

The thing I love most about your challenge and build videos (especially the ones that don't go to plan) is not necessarily because they inspire me to do similar things, but they've taught me to be more accepting of my own failings during the pursuit of my hobbies and that in fact, failing and asking yourself why you failed to do something is probably more beneficial to strengthening your understanding of how something works than fluking a result first time. It's not necessarily what you do that I find most interesting about your videos, it's your whole philosophy as to how you go about them.

It was interesting to find out that Eva's second name is "the sound produced by opening a cheese packet". 🤣 One of our cats, Bommel, obviously had the second name "clack-pfft" (or however the sound of a can opener piercing a can lid is spelled)!
@rubsey1
Жыл бұрын
Clack-pfft is definitely a sound. Cats and dogs are quite interested in it.
@brianartillery
Жыл бұрын
'Clack-pfft*' is the exact sound made by the box containing our cat's food. There must be an ultrasonic tone in it, as our cat can hear the box being moved, from anywhere in the house, and comes scuttling in, fur fluffed up, and with a hopeful 'manga eyes' expression on his face. Even if he's only just eaten. He must think we came in with the tide. *Not to be confused with the Selenite ''Tsi-puff", from the H.G. Wells novel, 'The First Men In The Moon'.
@singerofsongs468

My dog’s second name is also “the sound produced by opening a cheese packet,” and similarly, “the fridge door opening.” I also once watched someone’s 3 dogs while they went on vacation. They had a fancy coffee setup that I was invited to use, but they didn’t warn me that when I added whipped cream, all 3 of the dogs would suddenly materialize at my feet!

Yes indeed, you did use to be able to walk over both the giant & the horse, there was definitely access in the 1970’s. My family & I went to Dorset several times when I was a child & we visited both chalk figures & I remember holding a piece of the chalk in my hand as I posed for a photograph. The public access has been denied due to the gradual erosion of the figures from heavy footfall plus pieces of chalk being taken home by folk wanting a memento of their holiday. I also remember visiting Stonehenge when it was nothing more than a stone circle in a field with none of the modern day tourist paraphernalia that now surrounds the henge. I remember climbing over the stones & laying on the large alter slab in the centre. It was great to have been able to visit these places & be so totally hands on with them so to speak but I do understand why they are protected these days.
