I agree the Athlon is definitely the way to go over a DBT. The zero stop they put in that is the same design as even my Ares, which is like triple the price. It's rudimentary, but works. Good to see that Eley Semi Auto works well. I tried the SK Semi Auto and it was terrible, out of my Kidd barrel it had SD >25fps. I may have to pick up some of that Eley to try out!

Yeah, as basic as the zero stop mechanism is on the Athlon, it actually works quite well.

Check the bolt/charging spring. Might need a lighter spring for that ammo.

I have the same Kidd barrel. Love it but my Ruger bolt did the exact same thing not extracting spent shells and it was really irritating. Switched to a Kidd bolt and it all went away. Love Kidd products, and the seam on the threaded suppressor piece impresses me every time I see it!

I’m going to have to try that ammo in my Kidd build.

I was wondering..."why is Jonathan bothering with an Athlon scope since he's a ZCO man" until you said it was going to be a loner, which is a good idea, since I wouldn't want some yahoo damaging the expensive ZCO.

I use that scope in my Savage MDT rifle. Plus my gun loves SK Anything but Match if I can get it.

Nice video…what base and rings do you recommend for the argos sitting on top of the 10/22

I don't really consider price when it comes to rings or mounts. I am a fan of American Rifle Company M10 (now succeeded by the ARC MBRACE). I also like Spuhr of course. If you really need to step down in price, Seekins Precision are about as low as I personally go.

Very honest and insightful review. Both have equally crappy glass LOL

I'd recommend at least an Athlon Midas Tac 6-24x50 at the very minimum when buying a budget scope especially for competition. The glass is at least 2 levels higher and can hang with the $1000 optics for $600.

Yes, as stated in the video, I bought the Argos BTR Gen 2 because I wanted a budget scope for the CZ as I have it on reserve as a loaner gun. Ideally I'd use something like a Zero Compromise Optic ZC420 on it (which I still need to acquire for a different build).

I have an Athlon Argos on my Tikka T1x. I've been able to keep up with Vipers and Razors at local matches. I wouldn't hesitate to put one of these on my Begara 6.5.
