No, the idea of being the standard bearer for the US Army is the whole concept of the Rangers, or what is known as the "Abrams Charter". You show me a slob unit, and I will show you one that is worthless in combat also. The two concepts do relate.

@Cory Caromano Then explain Rangers... Special Forces... Coldstream Guards... 82nd Airborne... SAS...I could go on and on, but that is a statement made by those who have no clue how the best combat units really are. There is a reason they are known as elite
@Irish_Pirate
4 жыл бұрын
@Cory Caromano And again, these are comments from someone who has not served in an elite unit. Special Forces are a great example of this. You are mistaking mission essential uniforms with the dress uniform while in the conventional post. Show me a sloppy looking Special Forces soldier while in dress uniform. Their appearance is one that goes to great lengths to set the standard. Being elite is not just running around with a beard and pretending you are special. This is why no other unit is. As for "do you even Army bro", why yes. Started in the 82nd, went to war with them the first time. Then went into the 3rd Ranger Battalion. Then went into Special Forces, went to war with them. You sound like some National Guard hater than someone who actually has been in an elite unit. It sounds petty and childish.

Recognizing that I volunteered as a Ranger, fully knowing the hazards of my chosen profession, I will always endeavor to uphold the prestige, honor, and high esprit de corps of the Rangers. Acknowledging the fact that a Ranger is a more elite soldier who arrives at the cutting edge of battle by land, sea, or air, I accept the fact that as a Ranger my country expects me to move further, faster and fight harder than any other soldier. Never shall I fail my comrades. I will always keep myself mentally alert, physically strong and morally straight and I will shoulder more than my share of the task whatever it may be, one-hundred-percent and then some. Gallantly will I show the world that I am a specially selected and well-trained soldier. My courtesy to superior officers, neatness of dress and care of equipment shall set the example for others to follow. Energetically will I meet the enemies of my country. I shall defeat them on the field of battle for I am better trained and will fight with all my might. Surrender is not a Ranger word. I will never leave a fallen comrade to fall into the hands of the enemy and under no circumstances will I ever embarrass my country. Readily will I display the intestinal fortitude required to fight on to the Ranger objective and complete the mission though I be the lone survivor. But that didn't stop us from completing the Mission. That Happened 35 years ago on June 10th 1985. Not long after I got my Tab almost a year later. We had served together for 2 tours before that. I am tearing up in his memory writing this. He had my back and I had his, only to be taken out by an enemy Sniper, it could have been me that day, but I didn't stop till I took out the Sniper saving the rest of my Squad.

@Irish_Pirate
Жыл бұрын
The big difference is the Soldier and Infantryman's Creed is just something you learn in basic training and then never, ever repeat it again. Meanwhile, the Ranger Creed is shouted out by the whole unit every morning during PT. If a Ranger violates any part of the Ranger Creed he will be removed from Battalion. The 3rd Ranger Battalion, when it first started, had LTC Ohl as the commander. One day he forms the battalion and tells them all that he violated the Ranger Creed, and he resigned his post. He said no one is above the Creed. When the Rangers jumped into Panama the C-130 pilots said they were singing... no, they were reciting the Ranger Creed. During the Battle of the Black Sea in Mogadishu one Ranger kept another alive, and not bleeding out, by having him say the Ranger Creed all the way back to the airfield. So, yeah... it seriously overshadows anything else.

Sacrificing personal comforts and dedicating myself to the completion of the reconnaissance mission shall be my life. Physical fitness, mental attitude, and high ethics -- The title of Recon Marine is my honor. Conquering all obstacles, both large and small, I shall never quit. To quit, to surrender, to give up is to fail. To be a Recon Marine is to surpass failure; To overcome, to adapt and to do whatever it takes to complete the mission. On the battlefield, as in all areas of life, I shall stand tall above the competition. Through professional pride, integrity, and teamwork, I shall be the example for all Marines to emulate. @dylanmartinez2157 Some things have likely changed since I went through. But here are a couple of things that served me well. #1. Their job is to see how badly you want to be a Ranger. They will test you physically, mentally, and emotionally. Even if you can't do another push-up... keep pushing on the ground and try. As long as you continue to make an effort and don't quit, you'll be fine on the physical part. One of the things that at struggled with was when they made you do stupid things that make no sense. But that is just part of the game. Frustrate you. Test your discipline and ability to follow orders. Just do whatever they tell you. Don't question. Continue to try. Never quit. #2. Volunteer for everything. No matter what they ask you to do... even if you don't know what it is. Raise your hand and volunteer for it. ANY extra accreditation or training will help your career. #3. Stay motivated. No matter what, convince yourself that you love it. Love the challenge. Love the cold. Love the heat. Love the rain. Love it and drive on. It sounds crazy, but it will make more sense if you go to RASP. #4. If they ask you which Battalion you want to go to. Tell them 1st Battalion. It's the best one! Good luck and Rangers Lead The Way! P.S. it's a good idea to learn The Ranger Creed before you go. Work on push ups, sit ups, pull ups, 2 mile run and 5 mile run. Tell your friends recruiter you want a Ranger contract. Recite the Ranger Creed to him so he knows your serious.

Hi Sergeant, as someone who knows nothing of this world, do RASP 2 graduates share the same graduation, have a separate one, or skip their graduation? Also out of curiosity, do you have any experience interacting with 70 series in Regiment and if so, how were they viewed and could you give some brief words on what you saw them do? I'm in my late 20's, really interested in joining the 75th and that MOS just aligns with what I've been doing in the civilian world so far at least.
@Irish_Pirate

I had to look up what a 70 series was. If you mean medics, then yes, I interacted with them quite a bit. If you mean anything else... not so much. RASP 2 is the new name for what used to be called ROP (Ranger Orientation Program). It was for the senior NCOs and officers who get assigned to Battalion. Unfortunately, I don't know that much about it.
