Ranger makes a good aluminum boat. So does Alumacraft, Triton and Vexus. But if I could have any one aluminum boat it would definetly be The Lowe Favorite 198! Total badass aluminum boat! If you have never seen one you should check it out.

Nice video. Just a few comments about the boat. I purchased a 2017 RT188 with a 115 Yamaha - Great motor No complaints! A few things Ranger can do better. #1 Add a pull cord to the wire chases so you can pull wires through if you upgrade your electronics so you don't have to run the wiring exposed or spend hours trying to fish wires. #2 The cranking only battery is worthless. It will not power all accessories for an entire day of fishing. Ranger needs to come equipped with a good quality dual purpose battery or even just a deep cycle since the 115 motors no matter the make do no need that high of a cranking AMP battery. That's it - all in all a great value in an aluminum boat.

I had a Tracker, the only boat I ended up hating. I have been looking for a replacement and I think Ranger is it. The main problem I had with the Tracker was non of the storage lockers were water proof. If it rained everything got wet. If the seat extensions got wet you would never get them off the seat. So I could never store them in the boat. The lockers would smell of mildew if I didn't keep the lockers open for a week after some rain. The cleats were so small they were really not usable. I am 6'2'' sitting behind the wheel my legs would get cramps because there was no room for my legs.

w Coyote thanks for watching! It’s interesting to see your thoughts on the tracker. I personally have a 2018 PT190 and love it, haven’t had any of the issues you had with moisture. I’m also 6’2” and think it’s a pretty good ride even on choppy days. I like the console construction more on the rangers though, which you pay for. There are definitely some things about the ranger I really like, and I’m sure you’ll be very happy with one.

I like my RT178C, other than the storage compartments do leak some, but the trailer & bunks have been junk from day one. The fact that my dealer and Ranger didn't want to address the issues is why it will be my last Ranger.

Overall, the rt series is the quality without going up in glass. For the weekend fisherman who has a modest budget, the advantage outweighs disadvantage. One con you can expect on the boat is there won't be dryness in the compartments despite what a salesman might say. The pros outweigh the cons overall to pass on the rt series. Excellent boat!!

I might be wrong but I believe that one of the big differences between the Tracker and the Ranger is the use of some wood in the construction of the Tracker and the absence of it in the Ranger. There's an interesting video of Scott Martin fishing off a Ranger aluminium with holes cut through it in several places. The Trackers are nice, but I think the Rangers are a little better thought out.
@ZachC25

christopher lewis you’re right about tracker using some wood, it’s in the flooring. That video with Scott Martin is pretty interesting! I love my 2018 PT190, and actually prefer the hull design of it to the ranger, but I do agree with you that there are some things that are better thought out in the ranger when it comes to materials and details (hence the higher price tag when new). Thanks for watching!

I can tell you I was in the market for a Tracker 175txw. I ended up with a ranger 178rt and have no regrets. I’m not even worried about resale value, I kept my last boat 13 yrs. What I can tell you is the way each ride is no comparison. The Ranger is as close to a fiberglass boat as you will find in a aluminum rig. Tracker was way more noisy and unstable.

Really like the ranger just like the one in the video. Found one at a local tackle shop used for 19,000 but looks brand new. Plus it has the nonslip surface instead of carpet which I like a lot. I have a 1999 bass tracker and this would be a huge upgrade. I love how wide these boats are, the quality, and I know it'll be double as fast since my bass tracker only has a 40hp mercury.

I cant speak to how fast this particular boat is but i can say that my 2018 ProTeam 190TX with a 115ProXS will touch 50mph, wouldn't be surprised to see this boat do that as well. Good luck to you if you get one, they are great from what I could tell in my short time fishing off of this one!

We have a 195txw with 150ProXS (it's our stump filled water boat where we won't run our glass rig, a Z21/300ProXS) with the 150 ProXS, 2 people, full tank and loaded down with gear 58mph is what she will run... With a full tank, 1 person and a light load of gear 62mph is what she will run. The Z21/300 pro XS is a solid 83mph boat with 2 ppl, full tank and a tourney load of gear and 85 with a weekend load. It is nice burning 13.5 gallons a hour at WOT on the 195txw compared to what the Z21 burns lol. I will say this with a 150 on the 195 plus or minus 2mph from 60mph is what she will run and they handle rough water pretty good (not like the glass boat but for what they are they are great) they are very easy to run wot as there is ZERO chine walk that the 80mph glass rigs will do if you don't know what your doing on the trim and wheel... 60mph and take your hand off the wheel and it's tock would (we are running SeaStar hydraulic steering not the normal dual line steering they come with... Once your spoiled with hydraulic steering you don't want to ever be without it) the main difference between the glass boat and the tracker is simply how the deal with wind when on the trolling motor they get blew around a lot more then the 20/21 foot glass boats but that's to be expected. There are plus and minus to them but overall the 195txw has been a fine boat for waters we wouldn't run our glass boat in. If you have a hydraulic 6in set back jack plate on it they also get up and on plane in about 3 to 4 inches less water then the big glass rig and when up in skinny water in creek arms here in Florida that is very nice.

Honestly, if you can afford it, just go for crestliner, alumicraft, those boats are solid, I’m nothing but disappointed with my rt188, the trailers sucks and the boat already has cracks in the transom and it’s been at ranger for a few months and the kids on the boats are lose and it takes on water like crazy, I don’t even use it that much and Babied the freaking think, not happy with it, and bass pro doesn’t want to fix it even with warranty because the dealer I bought it from had put a jack plate and talon on it and nobody wants to do anything, be warned, be safe, do your research people, very important!

Basically anything with a tracker name is garbage, Whereas ranger is known for quality. Things people should really consider is resale, quality and safety. Tracker uses wood structures below their carpet vs aluminum of the rangers. Tracker uses plastic consoles vs fiberglass of the ranger. Tracker boats have crumby trailers and wheel combos vs a quality c channel with road armor and custom wheels of the ranger. As for safety ranger boats are fully filled with closed cell foam. This not only optimises floatation and your safety but it also reduces vibrations and sound vs trackers hollow boats. If you look into resale of these two brands, it wont even be a competition. Trackers dont hold their value whatsoever compared to rangers. Spend the extra 1-2k on a ranger and do yourself a favor in the long run
@michaelhowell2609
