I gotta say that Reed Sheppard has to be one of the safest (not best, but safest) prospects we’ve seen in recent memory. Even put up elite defensive numbers in college that suggest that he can at least stick to defending point guards and be really solid at that at the NBA level.

Ron Holland is a starter and shoots free throws at 75% so I think he can develop a 3 point shot and improve from 24%. Maybe his 1st year will be like Scoot Henderson though. Castle has similar issues so why do we like him better.
@bkelly625
7 күн бұрын
Castle is a much higher iq player and is physically stronger than Holland. I know that sounds simple but it makes his floor higher and he hasn’t been rumored to be doing terribly in workouts like Holland. Really though who knows it’s hard to tell who will be better long term this draft is confusing

hes too efficient and elite as a shooter to not at least be a constant scoring threat in the league. Maybe that comes as a 6th man bc of his atrocious defense but I think his offensive game will warrant him significant playing time. I think hes closer to Tyrese matey/darius garland than bones hyland. But he will be limited in his ceiling by his defense unless he is TRULEY elite at scoring ala Trae Young,maxey etc.

@@hoodiejelo6456 didn’t wanna actually look but i’ll do my research: 2023- scoot (arguably, has the worst shooting splits of nearly anyone in nba) 2021-davion mitchell 2019- romelo langford 2018- zhaire smith 2017- dennis smith jr These are all smaller sizes guards with not a lot of frame - like Rob - he’s just gotta shoot 46%+ FG and 38%+ 3PT to be effective in this league which is difficult when he’s not going to be the focal point of any team
@IrishIcarus13
6 күн бұрын
@@schmeat4504 scoot could never shoot tho. in fact most of the guards on that list weren't nearly as effective of a shooter as rob. I don't disagree with him needing to be hyper efficient to make up for the defense but I think he has a much better shot than any of those guards listed. worst case scenario he is of average efficiency but still an elite scoring threat as a sixth man.A two man PnR with dilingham and wemby would be so peak. Wembys imposing presense down low would deter attackers even if dilly is a turnstile on d. However I imagine the spurs are more of your line of thinking and looking for for a big, capable defending guard.

I'm just not sold on Reed man, like yeah shooting 52% from 3 is cool, but he's a freshman in college. It just screams anomaly to me. Next year he'll be guarded by big boys and I feel like he got a taste of that in that first round upset against Oakland. Dude was nowhere to be found on offense, and could not guard Jack Gohlke of all people. They had more success when they relegated Dillingham on Jack. Players in the NBA are miles better than Gohlke with more efficient systems. Like maybe a catch-and-shoot guy off the bench might be a more realistic option for him, at least early on, but I feel like he's incredibly overhyped. Maybe I'm wrong, and I hope I am, but I guess time will tell. I'll be very intrigued by this draft though. These drafts always tend to have some big surprises that get picked way later than they should've in hindsight.
