Yay, I got to be in one of Tariq's videos! It feels surreal after watching your channel for so long. Loved how you put together my segment. When "Coconut Milk" started playing, it gave me goosebumps, was fun hearing it on your channel. 🎵 Even though my review was much more upbeat about the crossover as a whole, I thought it was cool we had many of the same observations (like about Fry, Bender/Homer, Seymour in NYC). Its a very ambitious ep and it worked really really well. They hype for it was definitely worth it. I get that, definitely. Only reason Simpsons Guy is longer is because they went to Fox like “oops, we made this a few minutes too long” and Fox said “no fam, make it LONGER.” I’d imagine that, if they went long on Simpsorama, something similar might’ve happened.

"A Star is Burns" and "24 Minutes" are definitely my faves. Something interesting about A Star is Burns though is that they actually give Jay quite a few wins instead of him constantly being down on his luck like he usually is in his own show. I guess that was to make it easier for Homer to get jealous of him, but even when Springfield sees him as this cool and intellectual celeb, they still aren't afraid to throw a bit of pain Jay's way (Patty and Selma hanging him off a telephone pole and the football thing) which helps him feel like an actual character within the ep and not just an untouchable celebrity that's only there to look better than Homer.

I've always kind of been under the impression that family guy is this soulless shell of what the first couple seasons were because that's what everyone else told me it was, but MAN you've been putting this show in a new light for me with all the recent family guy analysis. Your positivity is so infectious, goddamn. Making me want to go and actually see the crossover, cause I've only ever seen Family Simp. Also as someone who has binged every one of the people featured (had a whole Jims MARATHON for the last couple days) I love just how much this felt like it's own crossover to me. Plus you were right, Jim's voice with your editing style is CRAZY. I was trying to wrap my brain around it the entire time he was talking.

Family Guy, especially in recent years, is just jokes. That's it. Some of them are really funny. If you're looking for deep character studies or intricately plotted stories, look elsewhere. But if you just want to laugh at some weird and funny shit, you can do a lot worse than Family Guy.

really cool of you to shoutout hidden gems, i've been a sublo and tangy mustard fan for a long time. looking forward to your own show as well. it's kind of interesting seeing how people have different criteria on judging something "as an episode" and "as a crossover." crossovers are inherently fanservice-y so maybe it would make more sense to prioritize fun character interactions and such over plot-related stuff. does jay sherman fitting seamlessly into the simpsons' world work for or against the episode? hard to say. i guess if i have any observations it's that generally i find the crossovers are stronger when the writerbase are either the same people or good friends - like for simpsorama, a star is burns - i had no idea the simpsons writers wanted to do an x-files crossover that far back - it just sounds like something they really wanted to do and had cooking for a long time. i feel that there's a lot of cynicism going into simpsons guy (which granted, is a family guy thing, but still) that stops it from hitting as hard as you might expect. but that's just me rambling - have a good one :)
