Marc Soler has deserved the title of the super combative of this Vuelta!! He is ended a great rider, for the breakaways and for stage wins, but when he has to work for the team and the leader, he's not the same rider, doesn't have the same aggressive behavior, the joy he puts on races where he is fighting for victory!

bit harsch on visma no? I mean they stated before the Vuelta WvA was their clear leader. Kuss GC more of a side thought. And they did put everything in service of WvA even controlling a semi-mountain stage the entire team to get a sprint. Can't just only credit Wout for it.

I always early anticipate your summary Benji...spot-on as always, however, YOU SKIPPED JAYCO! Eddie Dunbar is going to go all Irish mafia on you!!!!! A harsh reality for the ranking for Visma, accurate, but harsh. I would rank Alpecin as a B-tier performance, when you win a jersey 'by default', you don't deserve much credit. I hope that Ben O'Connor is able to take his scrappy GC performances to Jayco with him next year and make them competitive in the GC battles.

Bora at times vexing tactically, especially the stage where O'Connor was allowed to take a huge lead on GC. But they collected themselves very well, and they were tremendous down the stretch. Gritty performance especially in stage 20 when half the team (or more) were sick from food poisoning and/or gastroenteritis. So, in the end, I agree with the S rating.

Funny I am not a fan of IPT but I think they had a breakout race thanks to Woodsy but also in the fight every day, they sign a GC rider not headed for retirement and they can be a contender (BTW love Woods, I just struggle the team owner).

So Benji are you (and Pat) finally going to admit that the then TJV gifting Sepp the overall red jersey in 2023 was a mistake? :) There is no doubt it was one factor that pissed Roglic off so much that he jumped ship. That fact that Sepp is a fantastic mountain super-domestique but that he is not a GC contender was abundantly shown this year. He just does not have the ability to launch and sustain the explosive accelerations on slopes >10% that you need to gap your rivals as a real GC contender and his time trialling is adequate but not the needed top 10 time. Plus he is a nice guy and it’s a valid question if he has that mental drive to be no 1. Yes he did lose a major mountain domestique in a crash on day 3 and Cian way underperformed - so much so that if it was indeed due to covid then correctly Chris Horner said that VLB management should have sent him home in the second week. As you note all the others did not feature - I wonder if it was a matter of team morale - possibly they had no confidence in Sepp? You saw how Decathlon AG2R turned themselves inside out supporting Ben O’Connor when he was in red. You could see their confidence was sky high. As to Kaden Groves I agree that he did not win the green.
@27泓佑劉

Regarding Alpecin: it's not their fault if WVA crashed out. They achieved what they came for, they achieved what's gonna last in the books fo history. The rest is just talk. Would they had won the green jersey if WVA was still in the race? no. But that's the point, you gotta finish a race to win a jersey. To finish a grand tour is an achievement in itself, and there's a reason why not everyone arrive to the last stage.

Great vid Benji, however id have to argue that UAE is max B more of a C. They are the strongest team in the world this year and brought there best team without pogi and ayuso. Yes there stage wins were good consolation as well as KOM but their best rider on gc was the teams 6th best climber. Yates was underwhelming in gc and Almeida was never going to beat roglic the way he was riding. Also is the lanterne rouge uploading a video today?
