I feel like for generations, it added so much but it also added things that felt like they always should have been there. So weirdly, I don't notice the things that were added too much but I would definitely notice if they were gone. For me that kind of drops it to A tier, just because it wasn't too exciting and it didn't add another town, but still miles ahead of literally all the sims 4 "expansions" (not a high bar though lmao)

One flaw with sims 3 generations is I wish teens can get acne like in sims 2 And I really wish into the future was called “in time” so you could go to the past and meet your ancestors and learn old timey skills and live with older technologies

I always preferred Sims 2 Uni since it was easier to balance studying and socializing, I found in the Sims 3 Uni I had to sacrifice one for the other, which is a shame because they added the new social groups and the Campus had many lots to explore but I also was a control freak and wanted my Sims to get good grades 😂 But anyway I loved the video and I completely agree with your top tier, those packs, as well as Late Night, were always my faves too! 😊

Glad you enjoyed it!! Yeah, I like the school/social balance of Sims 2 too! I did like the social groups from university (although my regular non uni sims were usually part of them).

Sims 3 was just so good. I still have it all. All Eps, Sps and Store Stuff. My favourite Eps is Generations for storytelling and Seasons for atmosphere and World Adventures for exploration.

I usually play with a family style build. Because the gameplay is so in depth, I dont really need the weirder packs for the drama. I like to play with Nightlife/Generations/Seasons and university installed. It keeps the game running smoothly and had all the content I need. I hardly ever put my sims through university but I like to have to bowling alley/coffee bar etc to spruice up activities in my towns. On another note, one time I played several generations of a coven where each Valentines day the next generation of witches had to become pregnant, then when of the new witches would be the next supreme and they had to burn the old one. They all had their own tasks, one for magic/potions/gardening etc. Eventually the game file became too big to play but it was amazing. There were clans of witches/wolves/vampires and fairies with major rivalries. One time the witch hunters killed nearly the entire coven, then an old supreme brought herself back from the dead with ambrosia (that she could make, the hard way) and then revived all her children 🙊

My opinion: S - World Adventures, Into the future( i love aesthetics), Supernatural A - Late Night, Seasons, Ambitions B - University, Showtime C - Generations(overhyped dlc to be honest), Pets D - Island Paradise

My rankings: S: Seasons (perfect addition to everyday life) and Late Night (I just love the nightlife and city of Bridgeport, as well as the mixology skill) A: Supernatural (only reason this isn’t in S tier for me is that I think Alchemy is a bit too good. I love everything in this pack), World Adventures (love the worlds, especially China, and the Nectar and Martial Arts skills), University (I felt like it added a nice sense of accomplishment and fleshed out growing up a lot more) B: Pets (fun, but I feel they took up too much time), Generations (fleshed a lot out that probably should’ve been in the base game to begin with), Ambitions (nice, but I didn’t use much from it) C: nothing D: Island Paradise (nice concept, way to laggy and poor execution), Into the Future (played once, never again) Showtime (never used even though I have it)

This is 5 months late, but I will vouch for university life. For one, I will say that I'm not one of those who thinks that its the best, its pretty average within the scope of the game and I actually think that it is the worst university in the franchise, way behind 2 and 4's take on it. However, what I liked most about it were mostly really small details that still managed to pull me in. For one, I like that once a term ends, you go back home and can go back whenever you want and all the friends you made will still be exactly as they were when you head back (unless you move them into the main world and turn aging on). I just loved having an in game few days- a week to be with family and friends and reconnect with old romances if they had them. In a realistic sense, some people's university experience is moving out and never coming back while even before the pandemic others do university while still at home, but for the majority of people, they have that middle ground of coming home before delving back into it, so I really appreciated that about university life. My second point is actually a negative for me, but a positive for others: what I LOVED about sims 4 university is that you could do stuff like get pregnant, get married, have a job, stay at home, find roomates, etc. while at college and if you do move on campus the rest of the world wasn't frozen in time while you are away. Your parents would age, your younger siblings would age to teens or young adults and (if you have mods for story progression like I do), your pre-university friends would go through life changes or move elsewhere while you're gone; however, what others really appreciated about university life is that it really felt like you were away at college, you were completely disconnected from the main world and university was all there was while you were there. Again, that might be a turn off for a lot of people, but that is an aspect that those who loved this pack really liked. A major aspect of the pack that I really liked was the social groups; I really liked that if you got high enough in a social group you could gain a new trait and it gave them a lot to do; I loved having street artists and comic geeks and crazy athletic party animals that love getting juiced and having sex. Going to or starting protests, completing dares and odd jobs, kegger parties and comic shops, bowling (which was odd to incorporate in university, but whatever) were all fun and it gave them a little more personality, it gave them stuff to do, and by adding traits as an incentive, it gave you something to strive for. Also connected to this was the job offers you got if you maxed your influence, I like having some careers that you have to work for to get, and the ones they added with the social groups were fun ones. A very small detail about the social groups, is that it was available to those who weren't in university. With the other two university packs everything was tied to university, so if you had sims that weren't in college (which is most of your sims) there's literally no gameplay aspects that you're going to use. The social groups changed that narrative, even if for a little bit. I'd imagine using social groups all the time gets repetitive, but I find myself using them every so often and I enjoy it. Another one that some may hate, some may like are lectures. Some players really liked having that classroom feel, as when it boils down to it, university is all about education, so being at lectures added that part of the immersion in. For me, I actually liked rabbit holes better because I don't really care for being at class and I couldn't speed through because my sims would always autonomously fall asleep or stop paying attention, so I'd just sit there for 5 minutes constantly stopping and starting random interactions, but some people liked it. Another aspect that I liked was that every degree felt different; although six was way too few and the few they gave us were too generalized, the degrees still felt so distinct from one another because they gave you different gameplay objects that you had to use to do well; this made the work your sims do more connected to their major, and gave small changes to the overall gameplay. In the sims 2 no matter what your degree was, the education gameplay was the exact same and in the sims 4, while presentation boards had different graphics depending on which class its for, that's a design aspect and not an actual gameplay one. Now, this may be just me but university life was one of the only packs for me where the lots weren't perpetually empty and where social gatherings simply would stop working. An issue I have with the sims 3 that I hate is that I'll throw a party and half the time everyone will leave 2 seconds after arriving, or I'll invite someone to hang out and they'll decide to leave just when they arrive and insult my sim for their own crappy time management This wasn't the case in university. Parties were always full and lively, when I started protests, a lot of people came so they were fun to throw, dates worked a lot better and just in general, there were a decent amount of sims at every community lot, which made the experience fun. Connected to parties was the ability to get juiced, and depending on how juiced you were, the ability to do associated interactions. Great aspect that I wish the other games had. Finally, I liked that you get an additional trait for graduating, and I liked that your performance at university impacts your post grad opportunities. In the sims 2 and 4, you could be at the cusp of failing all through university and still be set for life once you graduated because you would enter in at level 7-9 in addition to financial bonuses that came with a degree, but in the sims 3, the most you could enter in was 5 or 6, 3 if you didn't do that great, and while your degree did give you financial boosts, they weren't so big that you would be rich in a matter of weeks. You still had to do work to excel at your career and your career wasn't maxed out days after graduating. If anyone reads this, sorry this is so long, but this is everything that I could think of for positive aspects of university life.

Into the Future gives gardeners a secret weapon. Grass rugs, garden indoors regardless of season. So cool, I have the garden store sprinkler, and gardening is so easy. I actually love the high tech stuff too. But when I discovered the grass rugs I was amazed, grass rugs basically act like the grass ground. Anything that can be planted, can be planted in the grass rugs, as well. So cool, and easy.

Honnestly i didn't agree with most of your rankings but it's your opinion ! My favorite is pets and into the future, because itf has a lot of new traits which are really interactive and also added simbots which surprisingly have a lot of parts and chips, and pets because it's litteraly pets, and one of my favorite packs but jot as favorite is seasons and late night, because they added a lot of stuff, and ofc generations, but honnestly i like all packs but well yes

I had the late night expantion for years because it came with the sims 3 starter pack, but I was never allowed to download it because my mom didn't like the idea of clubs in the game i guess? When I was younger all i had was high end loft stuff and pets, but I got pets right before I stopped playing the sims 3 (sims 4 came out) and it pretty much broke the game because we had a crappy 90s computer. Now im getting a new laptop and the sims 3. I wanna get generations, pets, and super natural. Maby seasons to

My ranking in terms of what order I would buy (not necessarily what I enjoyed the most): 1. Seasons 2. Generations 3. Pets 4. Ambitions 5. University life 6. Late night 7. World adventures 8. Island paradise 9. Showtime 10. Supernatural 11. Into the future Best made packs imo though: ambitions & late night Worst made packs imo: Showtime (lack of content) & into the future (too far away from my type of gameplay, it’s like world adventures without any use really in your actual gameplay like world adventures had)

I remember when I got Ambitions in 2010...damn, I loved the climate of Twinbrook. I liked every single detail in that ep, even washing machines, all the professions...unfortunately I lost this expansion pack really quickly...but I installed it today again, for the first time in like 10 years, and I definitely consider it as one of the best expansion pack but I think it's kinda foreshadowed by more popular expansion packs like seasons, island paradise, late night, pets etc. I think that the thing with ambitions is that you either love it or rather don't care about it. Showtime and Into the Future are definitely the worst of all the other expansions, but I think it depends on what particular person wants to experience more in the sims. Some people love futuristic stuff or would love to perform on stage in real life to that extent that these expansion packs could be even their favorites. It's hard for me to chose favorite one, cause overall all of them are solid. What I know is that we can all agree that Showtime & Into The Future are the worst, and that Late Night, Seasons, Generations and Island Paradise are most beloved ones.

I feel like showtime gave us the least amount of content on the surface, but when you add the simport shit then yeah its a full pack.
