7 Aquarius 6 Restoration (EP) 5 Virus 4 The Mountain 3 Vector 2 Visions 1 Affinity I saw them in a packed out club in Manchester 18 months ago - 470 capacity - they are so technically brilliant, yet accessible. They deserve to be....and are surely destined to be, massive. I was so looking forward to this. Great video, guys.

I'd never heard of Haken until I heard Pete talk about the Mountain cd. I'm not a huge prog-fan but I thought I'd give it a go ... I was really blown away by this album. I bought them all, and they're all good. Thanx !!!
Man, you guys make it hard to finish watching the episode. You describe all albums with such passion that I just wanted to head over and listen to all 6 albums right away. Great episode!!

1. Virus 2. Vector 3. Visions 4. The Mountain 5. Aquarius 6. Affinity 7. Fauna I like all the Haken releases. A very talented band. Each musician plays an integral part in the compositions. They are true virtuoso’s without bloating the compositions with unneeded wankery. The concept and lyrics of Vector/Virus take these two releases to another level for me. Very serious concept and lyrics. I also like the change in musical direction. They got heavier. Otherwise, I like the eclectic mix of styles on all the releases. Visions and The Mountain easily change places for my favorite Haken release musically, on any given day.

Haken is one of the best bands out there right now, I think one of Steven's earlier comments sums up what I like about them: they're extremely technical but it sounds real and natural... I also like how they don't sound like Dream Theater, Meshuggah or Periphery clones which is 90% of prog metal these days

The more I Listen to Haken, the more I like them. Man, they're possibly one of my all time favourites bands... My favourite albums definitely are the first two and Affinity. I'm still digesting their latest effort, while I'm not that in love with the mountain (even though it's an INCREDIBLE album, I just prefer some other albums of theirs). Imo they haven't released a bad song so far lol

Started listening to Haken - however it is pronounced - when Pete reviewed the latest CD on a fairly recent SoT show. Thanks to you both for this show so I can thread my way through the catalogue. The Mountain sounds like the next listening step. And looking over some of the comments here, likely Visions and Aquarius afterwards. SoT does bring new listeners to the bands you discuss. That is why I cannot rank the catalogue but always welcome the discussions of Steven and Pete. Looking forward to the next couple of shows you two mentioned. Great show as usual.

Getting into Haken. Impressions and ranking after a few listens: 01 The Mountain (Instant classic; original.) 02 Affinity (a Super Mario adventure with a metaphysical level.) 03 Aquarius (Unafraid clean cutting melodies - excellent debut) 04 Visions (sounds more accessible and relatable, derivative if you will, nonetheless it's a strong release - I'm not particularly enamored with the distorted guitar tone choice and some singing parts here but overall I understand why this is many people's favorite.) 05 (EP) Restoration (I dig Earthlings - cool cover)

I actually like that they have instrumental versions of their albums to stream. Sometimes when I'm busy with work and can't be distracted by vocal music I can flip on the instrumental music and jam away. This might become less of a thing though the more I get familiar and attached to their music.

One of my favorite bands, what drew me to Haken was how quirky and creative their first 4 albums were. 1. Visions 10/10 2. The Mountain 10/10 3. Aquarius 9.5/10 4. Affinity 9.5/10 4.5. Restoration 8.5/10 5. Vector 8/10 (less quirky, more generic, but there are some killer tracks like The Good Doctor and Host) 6. Virus 6.5/10 (disappointing; it took me months to get into. It's a fine album, but I have to be in the right mood)
Would be nice to see a review of fish last album. Surprised to see him on gardeners world in uk on bbc 2 talking about chilies.

What a challenge to rank the albums of a band that has only over-the-top stuff. I would place "Mountain" on one, "Restoration", "Affinity" and their most recent "Fauna" at 2 and all the rest at 3. Each of their Albums is a masterpiece and deserves a medal. But other question: Why do you always forget about Caligular's Horse. As long as I remember, I haven't even heard you mention their name. Rocking Greetings
