For me, the top five would be: 1. Creatures; 2. Destroyer; 3. Kiss; 4. Hotter than Hell; 5. their most underrated album, Asylum. Since I don't own Revenge, perhaps that would be top five, judging by a lot of comments on here...I need to check it out. Creatures is hard-hitting from the title track to War Machine (a.k.a. Sex Type Thing Sr.). Keep Me Comin' is flat-out nasty/badass. I Still Love You is a weepy drag that slows down the record, but other than that, just stellar. Crazy Nights is a fun album, don't know why Pete hates it so much. I got both Sonic Boom and Monster when they first came out and found them to be unlistenable -- definitely in the bottom two. Funny thing about What Makes the World Go Round and Tomorrow from Unmasked. If you changed just a few lyrics, they could pass for Christian rock songs. Not that bad an album, though...I think the cover gets point deductions in a lot of people's eyes.

Strangely, I am not going to put their debut into my top 10 Yes it's packed full of some of their best and most enduring songs, but sonically compared with the live album versions they are very poor sounding on the debut in my view. Respect to anyone though who feels differently. 1 Creatures of The Night 2 Hotter Than Hell 3 Destroyer 4 Dynasty (Sorry I know its poppy, but it has some insanely catchy songs) 5 Rock and Roll Over 6 Lick It Up 7 Monster 8 Love Gun 9 Revenge 10 Dressed To Kill.

IMHO, the best Kiss-related album ever is Ace's 1978 solo LP. it rocks and grooves and proves that the dude should've played in a heavy power trio in the 70s instead of auditioning for that business... oh well... now, considering classic Kiss, i'd say that yep, Hotter than Hell is tops. i also don't care much for the non-make up era, but one could tape the best songs they did back then and come up with a personal 'greatest hits' kind of thing... 'The Oath' off The Elder album is bona fide epic metal, 'Dark Light' is an awesome mix of stoner rock and Santana. i once interviewed Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer for rolling stone magazine. Bruce was almost like a friend, really down to earth, funny and quite nice. Singer, on the other hand, was a bit stuck up.

Check out black and white video of Wachin you and Parasite from Winterland 1975. CREATURES OF THE NIGHT is my favourite non-original lineup Kiss album. Love every song there, heavy Kiss, production built around Eric Carr's drum thunder. I love the Hotter Than Hell album. Right from that opening chord of 'Got to Chose'...😎 I saw Space Ace's stage outfit from '75, encased behind glass, at the Hard Rock in Atlantic City some 15 years ago- sweat stains & all... At the same time, I saw a drawing made by Jim Morrison from when he was a teen. It was a depiction of the concert he'd seen of Screamin' Jay Hawkins, of pall bearers carrying a coffin. (Hawkins stage entrance) Cool, cool stuff. 😎

Dressed to Kill was my first Kiss album. It doesn’t quite top Hotter Than Hell for me (my fave as well), but it’s a close second. I loved it when Gene and Paul sang together. Seemed like that dropped that approach after Destroyer. Peter Criss’ voice also added a soulful element that they never regained. Kissology 1 features their full b&w (which makes it cooler) Winterland show which is from the Hotter Than Hell tour. Very freaky, before the little kids got into them. Highly recommended.

I can't believe that this dude ranked Creatures of the Night at number 7. That's EASILY a top 2 or top 3 album-EASILY!!! I really feel, now that I think about it that it deserves to be ranked Number 1!!! Think about it:Dynasty-Kinda poppish. Unmasked:Super-poppish, and wimpy as all get-out! Music From The Elder: Somewhat better than Dynasty and Unmasked, but still lacking in Heaviness, at least to some degree. Creatures of the Night was a brilliant return to their Mid to Late 1970s form. DEFINITELY!!!

You see how old he is (we are). KISS is somewhat nostalgic to us because they were the band that turned us into metal heads. Don't be offended. We just have different tastes in music.

@@Deucealive75 Good Morning Deucealive 75, I suspect I'm older than both you and the guy in the video. I was born in December '56 so I'm 63. In my early teens I was listening to the early heavy rockers, Sabbath, Purple, Zeppelin etc. When punk came along (I would have been 19/20) I got into that while most of the guys of my age stuck with the heavy rock. I got into Bowie, Talking Heads, Television, REM and later Nirvana, Sonic Touth, Pixies, the Indie scene, while still listening and appreciating the music from my teen years. Meanwhile most of my peers were still listening to Yes and Genesis and Jethro Tull. They were stuck in a musical rut and missing out on some great new music. I hate it when people of my generation slag off the music of today (and the music of the last 40 years), it's so narrow minded. There is some great stuff out there and I still listen to, and go to see, young bands. Not to do so and you're missing out on some good times and exciting music. Peace, John
