No auto tune ever with Journey. Just raw talent. Live versions are sometimes better than record versions. Try Mother Father or any Live in Houston song from that concert.

Journey history is amazing. Neal Schon and Gregg Rolie were original members. They were in Santana in 1970-ish. Gregg sang ‘black velvet woman’…when the Santana broke up they started Journey. DO ‘MOTHER FATHER’ LIVE FROM HOUSTON…. SERRRRIOUS!!! Phenomenal!

@brigittereimprecht8334 One of the best... but he can't sing the old Journey songs in the same key as many Perry fanatics think. There were many singers of his time that were every bit as good as Steve...different styles in some cases, but just as good..a few examples...Ian Gillan (Deep Purple, and Jesus Christ Superstar), Brad Delp, Rik Emmett, Robin Zander, Ronnie James Dio, Darryl Hall, Steve Walsh, Geoff Tate...the list goes on and on. He was great, but not any better than many others. He was a great blues/R&B singer, but not a great pure rock singer. To say Journey is not Journey without him...they were a great "musicians" Journey before him, and there is still a Journey after him. I do agree he WAS a great singer..he is still OK, and I enjoy all their music..with and without him. By the way... Anything you hear now from him is autotuned... I guarantee it.

I have completely lost track of how many times I've seen Journey, and every single show was amazing. Literally anything from their 1981 Houston show is mind blowing. Trust me on that. I was there. Steve Perry has the 2nd best voice I've ever heard, and since no one ever has a chance of beating Freddie Mercury, that's a lot. Have you ever thought about doing something from Rush?

Neal Schon and that incredible, instantly recognizable tone is as much a part of the Journey sound as Steve Perry. You have to have a vehicke for virtuosity...the music! Neal is a virtuoso!

At their peak, Journey toured really heavily, including at least tours of Japan in 1980, 1981 and 1983. Steve sounds great, but it's uncomfortable to me that he looks like he's about to pass out from the flu.
