Avi left because his mother got cancer, he was in tour, developed depression and anxiety, so he left Pentatonix for a calmer life. His mother is alive and hi is living in a cabin in the woods looking very lumberjacky. His solo songs are great. He goes by Avi Kaplan or Avriel and the Sequoias. Can you react to Change on the Rise and Quarter Past Four? They show you the artist he is. He composes everything, played all instrument he knows how to play, even directed some of the videos.

PTX also do another song with Lindsey Stirling called ‘Papaoutai’ (it’s sung in French) which is great. I love the original of this song & I think this was an amazing post-apocalyptic style cover, I love the cello/violin face off and the attitude they put into the song is awesome. Avi left as the pace that PTX kept was becoming too much for him, then his mum got really sick with cancer and he didn’t want to hold everyone back so he made the decision to step away. He was however extremely involved in finding his replacement which as we know ended up being Matt, who in case you didn’t know was a HUGE Pentaholic before he joined lol 🥰😊 if you enjoyed this you should check out their original song ‘Love Again’

The apocalyptic setting where this was shot is at the Salton Sea, an inland sea in Southeastern California that’s 236 feet below sea level. It was a popular tourist spot in the 1950’s and 60’s, but the salinity levels intensified due to agricultural runoff, no new fresh water and no outlet over the years makes it no longer usable. It’s not terribly far from Indio where the Coachella Music Festival takes place.

I learned about Pentatonix because of this video. I was a Lindsey Stirling fan before I was a Pentaholic. I loved their second collaboration and hope they do more! I absolutely can recognize Lindsey's playing. :o) Kevin is playing a cello. Lindsey is playing a violin. The basic violin family is: Violin, Viola, Cello, Bass/Contrabass. From smallest to largest. Violin and viola are played by tucking them under the chin. Cellos are usually played when seated. Bass/contrabass are played standing (or sitting on a tall stool).

That's funny, for me it was the opposite, I was a huge Pentaholic first and was introduced to Lindsey and many, many other great artists through them. Avi was primarily the bass singer, but also did some beatboxing as well. He left for multiple reasons, primarily the rigors of constantly touring and recording were getting to him. Also, his mother was very ill and he wanted to spend more time with his family. After a well-deserved vacation from the music business, he started a solo career. He has released three solo albums so far. They are very different from PTX, more of a folk/country sound, almost all original Avi songs, and he gets to showcase his incredible vocal range on every song. Lindsey is playing a violin and Kevin is playing a cello.

One year of that break from Avi releasing his own music was because of a clause in the legal separation agreement that he could not release anything until exactly 1 year from the date of the agreement, which is when "Change on the Rise" was released (and PTX released their cover of "Come Along" that very same day). During that year, Avi traveled extensively, mostly hiking and camping, and then worked on using it all to create some of the very best original music to be found. Here's a link to a trailer his label, Fantasy Records, did to promote his "I'll Get By" EP. It explains a lot of what he was going through. kzitem.info/news/bejne/l5mevWmAcaOIamk

Yes, Lindsey is playing the Violin, Kevin is playing the Cello. They did another collaboration to a French song "Papaoutai" which PTX took French lessons for so they could sing it authentically. You should check that one out as well. It's amazing. As for Avi leaving, PTX works non-stop and the pace was getting too much for Avi. When his mom got cancer and he couldn't be there for her as much as he wanted to, Avi knew he needed to make a change. The rest of PTX understood and supported him. On a side note, they are all still very close to Avi. He and Kevin are still best friends. Avi's sister was and still is PTX's North American Tour Manager. Avi was also the one who hand picked Matt to be his replacement and the rest of PTX couldn't agree more, they love Matt . As for what they are wearing, yes, there is a more rock element to the arrangement but their dress and setting is more for The Apocalypse, like the song says. LOL And Merry Christmas to you and your family.

On the last two tours she is not there at all in there behind the scenes Vlogs they post during their tours titled PTXperience. I know she was there in 2018 for their North American tour in the summer and before that 2017 for their first Christmas tour when Matt first joined because she was on the tour bus with Matt, Scott and Kirstin having fun like she always does in the members Instagram posts. Avi and Kevin were both vital to Pentatonix starting and winning the Sing-Off. They were far more experienced than the 3 who were just out of high school and had won several competitions each. You should respond to the Sing-Off competition where they started. Sing-Off Season 3 What alot of people are unclear about is 2 members of Pentatonix were not just coming out of high school but already had quite an extensive musical performance and competition background. Avi was one of them and Kevin Olusola is the other. Avi Kaplan had been writing music since high school. First composition I am aware of is "Collision" in 8th grade written after an automobile accident his family was in. While in Pentatonix he and Kevin Olusola were the main song writers even of ideas brought in by other members of the band also very involved along with Ben Bram an arranger in arranging music for the band. Prior to the Pentatonix opportunity Avriel (Avi) Kaplan, was a student of classical music and opera trying to decide between being a choral director or an opera singer. He plays guitar and composes and arranges music for choral and a cappella to this day. In 2008 he joined Fermata Nowhere, a group that became the first community college a cappella entrants to win the ICCA. Avi won an award for “Best Rhythm Section.” which the ICCA had changed to allow them to award it to a vocal bass. He was a member of Mt. SAC’s Singcopation champions which captured best jazz distinction at the 2010 Monterey Jazz Festival and eight Downbeat best collegiate jazz vocal group awards; Fermata Nowhere’s winning the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella in 2009; and the Chamber Singers and Singcopation’s clean sweep and Grand Prix Award at the American International Choral Festival in 2011. He had performed at venues worldwide, including New York City's Lincoln Center and Carnegie Hall. Kevin Olusola, the group's beatboxer, is a Yale graduate (pre-med). He speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese, loves classical music, and plays piano, cello, and saxophone. He had performed at Carnegie Hall twice as soloist on the cello and saxophone and has appeared on NPR’s “From The Top.” In 2009, he won second place in an international cello competition hosted by Yo-Yo Ma. In 2011, his “Julie-O” KZitem video was featured by CBS, AOL, Huffington Post and the Washington Post, among others. He was named one of 100 “History Makers in the Making” by TheGrio and was chosen by Quincy Jones to represent him in concert at the 2012 Montreux Jazz Festival alongside Bobby McFerrin and Chick Corea. Due to the reneging on the award of a record contract to Pentatonix after the Sing-Off competition that they won at the end of 2011 Avi and Kevin Olusola became roommates (the 2 straight guys) as did Scott and Mitch (the 2 gay guys who also formed Superfruit). This actually was a happy accident because Avi and Kevin wound up composing music for Pentatonix together. (They did still get the $200,000 prize).

I have to say that I absolutely love your Christmas tree! Now to the reaction video. I love Lindsey Stirling! My youngest grew up when Lindsey Stirling was starting on KZitem and I've watched her ever since. I think what Lindsey Stirling and Pentatonix have in common that makes them a logical collaboration is adaptability. Both of them seem to be able to do any genre they choose to do instead of being confined to one genre of music. I love this cover and I was so excited that they did this collaboration! They did another one that somebody else mentioned in comments and it's a really fun one to watch! Scott sings in French in that one! And I see a definite apocalyptic scene and the dress style definitely is a mixture of steam punk and Rock. I dated a professional classic rock drummer for years and he would not have been caught dead with goggles on his forehead like Kirstie is wearing. But black leather? Oh yeah! LOL I had a black leather vest that he was constantly stealing to wear on stage.

Mitch and Scott had been doing Superfruit since the 2nd year I believe Pentatonix was together. avikaplanofficial.com "Change on the Rise" is the biggest one. He just started his first big tour and was in Amsterdam I think when he had to come back because of Covid 19. He moved from Los Angeles to Nashville when he left Pentatonix which is another big music production hub. Los Angeles, New York City, London or Nashville were the choices he mentioned. Lindsey is amazing!! I play the violin and I have no clue how she can move around like that and still sound so good!! The violinist in Celtic Woman is the same way!! This video reminds me of The Book of Eli. Wonderful reaction as always, my friend!!

Look at that beautiful tree! 😍 I'm loving your trip down the rabbit hole! You know, you should also try Citizen Queen and Acapop Kids, they are both acapella groups that Scott helped to form and produces. They have great stuff! And also Kevin's solo project, which is AMAZING! The man is seriously talented, he beatboxes, plays the cello, sings (beautifully!), plays the saxphone, piano and who knows what else lol Loving your reactions

La La Latch and Love Again are awesome songs! Cello is right. When Kevin plays the cello he invented the 'cello-boxing' and it is so cool! Love Again is an original by PTX. Love your tree!

You're correct. Lindsey is playing an electric violin. Not sure where her power source is in the desert :) Yes, Kevin is playing an acoustic cello (not electric - wood).
