Wayne is one of few rappers who is claimed equally by multiple generations. I'm 25 and even though it's considered his low point for my age group Rebirth to Human Being II was a memorable time for us. Thats why Bitches Love Me is one of his top played on Spotify. Then we also were waiting on Carter 5. And when it finally dropped Twitter exploded. Gen X has the early Cash money Hot Boys to Carter 1, Millennials grew up on Carter II and especially Carter 3 onwards. Then my age group our earliest memory is 6 Ft 7 Ft from Carter IV. Wayne is timeless.

Mike leaving is a hard blow. He always kept outrageous takes in check. And as much of a “old man” he claims to be, he definitely has a good pulse on relevant hip hop, and if he doesn’t, he easily admits “ I don’t know enough about it” rather than the way Ken and Rod just say factually incorrect things to drive whatever narrative and “prove” their point Good luck Mike!

@brooklynmedina7676 I respectfully disagree. Compared to other women's debuts I'm not seeing it. It's not Miseducation, it's not Hardcore, it's not Supa Dupa, not Pink Friday. It's not even Funkdafied or Necessary Roughness. It MIGHT be more dynamic than Necessary Roughness since Rage isn't that versatile. I fuck with certain Cardi B tracks. Red Barz for example. You know the only debut Invasion of Privacy is better than is Left Eye's solo. There's a gang of bitches I rank over Cardi B personally. Even Azealia Banks flows way better and if you don't believe me listen to Chi Chi or Pyrex Princess. Okay Invasion is also better than Iggy Azaleas debut. But what isn't.

@@ofthelion7 the question is whether the album is classic. Whether you rank emcees above her is irrelevant. Many emcees were better than Biz Marlee, he didn’t even write his rhyme. But his album Goin’ off is a classic. Goin off is not Illmatic and Invasion of Privacy is not Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. I’m not comparing those albums to each other. I’m defining classic. Songs that resonated in its time and have longevity: Cardi’s songs rocked the block in realtime and are still on rotation. Music that was impactful or has a unique sound. Cardi brought a nuyorivan sensibility from a female perspective. Her voice is unique - one of a kind. Additionally the album is distinct for the period and wholly separate from the rest. That’s part of the classic definition. YOU don’t have to like it. There are some classics I don’t enjoy. But the album is a classic for this era and has legs.
