Awesome review Dave! Totally agree with you on this one. Anyone that wants to get into the planar game should look at the P1 Max, Shouer S12 or the PMV PP that is under $200 imo. I had the P1 Max, and sent it back, because it just didn’t sound like a planar to me. Look for sales as well. I have the Timeless, and it is still the best planar to me, but had the PMV PP first and still like it although high end is lacking somewhat. Good hunting!

Another great review Dave! It looks like the RaptGo Hook X will appeal to only a select group of listeners. It doesn’t sound like it would satisfy my expectations for an IEM costing $240 or so. @@TKA905 Yes, I compared. The parcel went for a very long time received a week ago. Dave said everything correctly in the review. His reviews are very detailed and truthful. P1 max seemed to me more neutral and linear, have better resolution, not such a failed midds as Hook X, have better resolution and more informative treble, less sound stage, but it is accurate. Hook X has the best bass of all planars. And if I want to have more fun in music where good bass is needed I take Hook X. If I listen to jazz funk soul instrumental or vocal or orchestral music for example I take P1 max. The P1 max is more demanding on power and if you give it to them this thing comes alive. Male female vocals sound equally good and balanced instruments sound natural and true.

I purchased these because I wanted an IEM that could do it all from music to gaming. I love these in games, the soundstage and imaging is super immersive. I like the bass, although I might EQ it down a bit. I find the sound to be missing something when compared to my Moondrop Kato, I don't really know how to explain it and maybe it just comes down to planar vs dynamic but it feels boring like you said despite the tuning being fairly similar on both. Granted I've only had it for a few days but I'm honestly not sure if I like it.

It’s interesting how differently we perceive the planar iems. I found the timeless to be way too hot up top, Kinda sterile and clinical. The hook x reminds me of sitting at a live venue listening - it tonality is spot on. Almost the most real I’ve heard in an iem. It’s stage is so natural that I’ve forgotten I was wearing them. The tin p1 max is the safest tuning option - it’s pretty flat across the board with no character. Would you say you lean more towards treble? Or perhaps may not have a sensitive hearing passed 10k?
@MrColdchillin81

@@fioreinforma-pilates-bisceglie I totally get that. I didn’t really have a chill iem. The hook x has that. But it’s the tone and soundstage for me that stands out in the hook x. Enjoy the p1 max. Timeless are a bit hot up top in their stock tune, i use oratory's usound EQ and customised it a little to my taste, bit more bottom end, and the mids are calmed down, but yeah, stock tuning is to bright for me, But after EQ I think the sound quality would probably hold its own against even TOTL iem's, I'm tempted to try stuff like the variations, monarchs, mest etc, but with diminishing returns in this hobby I'm not sure it's worth it.
